About This File

This skin represents a period of transition in the early 1980s where the U.S. Army adopted M81 Woodland camouflage BDUs for possible combat in Western Europe but had not yet fully replaced the M1 "steel pot" helmet with the new Kevlar.

What's New in Version 2.0.0

Released

Updated for Steel Beasts version 4.159

This skin represents a period of transition in the early 1980s where the U.S. Army adopted M81 Woodland camouflage BDUs for possible combat in Western Europe but had not yet fully replaced the M1 "steel pot" helmet with the new Kevlar.
Also included is an optional face2.dds without camouflage paint.

Changes from my previous version include a slightly resized woodland pattern, and an updated filename to comply with version 4.159.

I believe the gun was supposed to be M16A1, not A2. Is this something you may be able to improve?

No.

In SBProPE, only the skins are moddable, not the models. This is a texture for the "Uniform1980US" Infantry model. The firearm is modeled and textured separately.

Without looking, I'm not sure which flavor of M16 the US1970 nationality uses. If it's the A1, you could conceivably rename and install this skin in that mod folder, as the two use the same troop model (but slightly different normal maps). The obvious downside would be that vehicle skins would be Seventies rather than Eighties.

As for me, I prefer to "squint harder."

Thanks for the explanation! Just out of curiosity, is there a way to mod the gun models? The manual does not seem to mention that.
