The good news: my SB package arrived this afternoon. The bad news: I just lost most of my gaming time this weekend. I'm sure I'll manage to find a few pockets of time. It's all about priorities, isn't it? :biggrin:

I'm expecting my copy to arrive in the next few days. I'm aiming to get in some practice in the evenings so that I'm more-or-less up to speed come the weekend. It's one of those rare weekends where we have nothing on, so the plan is to devote an afternoon to SB. I suspect I'm a bit of an outlier, but I'm most looking forward to playing the IFVs rather than the tanks. I think my fascination with IFVs began with TACOPs, and it will be cool to finally play one. The downside is that IFVs are considerably more vulnerable than tanks, so I expect to be spending more time in the virtual morgue than I did in the original SB.

As one of Gibsonm's colleagues (I would probably have described me as "occassional and slightly annoying hanger-on, but that's another issue), this was sufficient news to prompt me to finally place my order on the weekend. So thanks. I'm a veteran of the original Steel Beasts, which I loved. One of the best wargaming experiences I ever had was an online multiplayer game of SB where we were attacking up a valley. I was TC with a human gunner, and it was wildly disorienting, thrilling, and outrageous fun. I'm quite looking forward to getting my hands on the new version. I'm sure 2.483 will be more than satisfactory for me to practice what I do best: missing most of my shots and drawing fire.
