  1. Great reply. You obviously know your tanks (but we knew that anyway)!
  2. Come in handy for those Doorbuster sales.
  3. From the International Movie Database this info: "Although most of the film was shot in the US, some of it is stock footage of Soviet military operations. The tanks in long lines are recognizably of Soviet manufacture, and only the Soviets used rockets to soften the landing of equipment in an airdrop."
  4. In the 1982 Francis Ford Coppola movie "Koyaanisqatsi" there is a scene similar to the aircraft boneyard at Davis Monthan AFB where row upon row of MBTs are shown. If anyone has seen the movie I wonder what tanks they are (were)?
  5. Thanks Gary Owen. I will definitely give them ago. Just tried the 2nd to last Gunnery tutorial for the CV9040 supporting an attack on a bridge. Fairly interesting. Hope those twin tornados missed you. PC
  6. It shouldnt take that long - about 8-9 days for me. Glad the dollar is up as US$125 is quite a bit but it is a realistic sim ( no Health Bars in this game LOL). pc
  7. Another JAFA (Just Another F...ing Aucklander) here from Torbay on the North Shore. I have a few years more on the clock and have had a military life in the RNZAF (20yrs tech) and am still very much involved as a civvy supporting the Kaman Super Seasprite SH-2G(NZ). Also been into sub sims from Janes 688 to SH4 but I am more into flight sims with a lot of FSX add-ons. Current flavour of the month is the Vertical Reality F/A-18. I have always been fascinated by the AFVs and got Steel Beasts when it first came out ( around 2000 ?). Never got into multiplayer and found tactics extremely difficult without anyone to guide me. Sure there are heaps of pages of military manuals one can wade through and maybe that has a lot of merit. I think the forums show the way now with so many experienced Steel Beast enthusiasts willing to help new simmers. Once I have gone through the tutorials to the point where I can comfortably operate my vehicle I would be keen to link up via the Net. Peter
  8. I am just getting back into Steel Beasts after a long lay-off so I have a lot of re-learning to do. My new SB Pro arrived a few days ago and I am slowing going through the tutorials hopefully in a logical order. Practised driving and navigating and now have started on the gunnery. I am using the CV9040 to begin with. I have also got the X65F Saitek joystick and throttle so have been able to program a lot of keypresses into it. Anyway my first question is how do you know when you are about to run out of ammo? My next is "Is the only way to order a reload is to click on the tank icon bottom right of screen?" Thanks, Peter
