  1. The campaign bit does the SB battles I just do solitaire after the players give there orders
  2. 0700 hrs in the 21st Pz sector both recce forces where struggling to find each other. Scenario 2 1st Troop B sqn 13/18 Royal Hussars was detailed to guard the crossing points across the Leine . The troop found itself in the middle of the 3 coy 112 independent recce . With 1st platoon to the north and second platoon to the south. In a sharp engagement all 1st troop was destroyed with the loss of 1 BMP 1 . Not B sqn finest hour
  3. 0600 hrs - 0700 hrs 62nd guards tank arrived just short of 21 Pz recce line so nether had any detection or contacts. 7th Armd Bde and 61st Guards Tank recce elements begin to engage each other First engagement start small. 4 BTR 60Pb of the 1st coy 2 plt 112th Btn 248 guards MRR have passed through the the forward screen of the C sqn 13/18th Royal Hussars. Scenario 1 in SB. Some screenshots of the engagement . Also the first casualty as a BTR60PB is taken out by a Scimitar. A rather one sided affair all the BTR destroyed for the loss of 1 Scimitar.
  4. 0600 hrs - 0700 hrs Soviet advances north and south of Hanover some screenshots of the recce reports for the Soviets and Nato.

  7. Finally managed to get my campaign up and running with the help of a couple of wargamer friends. Thought I would post an AAR as the thing moves along. The campaign is set in 1983 the Soviets launch a surprise attack on West Germany . The campaign is based around Hanover and the Soviets attempt to get a breakthrough . As the players don't frequent these boards I can post more info than you would normally. I have attached both commanders orders . The images are of the at start forces. From 3rd Guards Shock Army.pdf From BAOR Commander.pdf
  8. count me in ! ex 13/18 RH so I would like to sit in something small under armoured and under gunned
  9. Ok I have to admit you have me on this ;-) I can imagine forests etc would be bad but why water ?
  10. Just to get back onto the ATGM debate as I think the water debate has run it course or degenerated which ever you prefer . Im not sure that the Sagger / Yom Kippur myth has been debunked. The Soviets claimed anywhere between 800 - 1000 tank kills during the war ("Well he would say that, wouldn't he?" slight misquote from Mandy Rice Davies) attributed to Saggers . The Israelis switched tactics . Nato adopted these tactics and then spent a lot of money investing in defence against them. Logic would suggest there was a real fear of these weapons. The weakness of the Sagger was improved so the tank crews couldn't see them firing and improved there tactics by firing them in pairs giving the tanks less chance to dodge them. So my conclusion (and of course my opinion) is that they are not over done in SB there lethality is fine and although you may feel invulnerable in your Leo you aren't
  11. Sorry probably didn't put the point over very well. What I was trying to say was that since the Yom Kippur the west has put an awful lot of money into ATGM defence so as not to repeat the carnage the suitcase Sagger man caused the Israelis. Recent combats, involving the top 3 western tanks , seems to suggest, apart from the odd lucky shot, it was money well spent. Does SB really reflect this ?
  12. Koen this is the report from the quick test and the game me and stuuk when we first noticed it. The BMP are engaging at 4km in the test and immobilises the leopard at 3.4km with their 30mm quicktest_08-01-11_18_31_30.zip quis5_07-31-11_19_28_59.zip
  13. On the other hand I think there was a Challenger that took over 70 RPG hits and it only scuffed the paint. Don't really agree with stuuk about the over lethality of ATGM but the river issue is really annoying.
  14. I think the only 2 Challengers lost in combat are a blue on blue with another challenger and an RPG29 getting a lucky hit on the reactive armour. Not heard of the drivers sight issue.
