  1. Major Duck has 'volunteered' to be C.O.
  2. Looks like Grenny/Ronin will be able to attend so we need someone to volunteer to C.O this. And we should take a few minutes during the briefing to discuss what didn't to quite right last time. I confess that I can't put my finger on the exact problem; the plan seemed very sound but numerous mistakes were made during the execution.
  3. The mission planned for this Sunday has had to be put back to March for various reasons, so we will have another go at Zipuli's Elvis Ringing the Doorbell. We did this as recently at 31 Jan and achieved a marginal victory despite heavy losses. The briefing will therefore include a brief analysis of what went wrong and why it won't happen this time! Grenny, would you like another crack at this or would you prefer to let someone else C.O? WARNING ORDER http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20160214T19&p1=%3A TS Server: teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 Link to previous mission: http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=22425 Please ignore all posts in this thread other than the briefing and the map. New manning list to follow shortly.
  4. Absolutely fine by me. Consider me to be the choice of last resort if no one else steps up. :clin:
  5. Zipuli - I see you haven't go a slot yet. You are very welcome to C.O this if you wish.
  6. If no one else volunteers, I'll do it. Although I was involved in the final beta testing session I was concentrating so much on my own platoon that I didn't get much idea of the overall situation.
  7. With KT being absent in the far north, I'll take 41 please.
  8. WARNING ORDER This Sunday's mission is something a bit different to our standard fare and more ambitious than usual. When: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20160207T19&p1=%3A TS server: teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 CATASTROPHE FOR SWEDEN. Soviet Forces have made a totally unexpected and unprovoked attack on Sweden. NATO has rushed NRF forces to oppose them, accepting Sweden as the 29th member of NATO in the process. The Swedes have done what they can to slow the Soviet advance but are under extreme pressure and being forced to fall back. As soon as our Danish battlegroup arrives it will team up with 72nd Swedish Mech Inf Btn in order to stop the Soviet advance and start a counter attack. The C.O has driven all night and the situation is very confused. He has therefore had little opportunity to make detailed plans and must respond as best he can 'on the fly'. This is a big scenario with a lot going happening on a big map with retreating Swedish forces scripted and visible in the 3D view. The C.O's situation will be simulated by posting the .sc file only few hours before mission start time which will allow him to do some terrain reconnaisance and draw up a rough plan - but not much more. In any case, the enemy's tactical intentions are unclear so he will have to react to their initiatives as best he can. A perfect opportunity for those who find the whole planning process a bit tedious! The scenario requires at least 12 players, and if we fall short we will save it for another day and run Panzer Leaders's CT Heavy Delay again. If so, the emphasis will be on timely withdrawal, breaking contact and retreating in good order to be relieved by reinforcements. A full briefing for that mission can be found here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=22391 But I would encourage as many people to attend if at all possible so that we can run the planned mission. You won't regret it.
  9. Happy to play second fiddle to whatever KT is doing, as usual. Or equally happy to take a M113 Milan platoon.
  10. I wish you the best of luck with the interview Hedge. Let us know how it goes.
  11. Very sad. I look forward to participating in the Memoriam missions - which will be a really nice way or paying tribute to him.
  12. NARRATIVE AAR An interesting and challenging mission. Grenny took us to a narrow victory despite the fact that we were down on players compared with our usual turnout and it features a full set of support equipment, including a biber for an assault river crossing. The time limit on this scenario means that the plan has to be good (it was) and the C.O must keep a constant eye on the clock (he did). But it also means that things must go at a pretty brisk pace with not much room for mistakes. Generally, that aspect was OK, but there were some hiccups in mid game that meant the final 20min were a bit rushed. This wasn't Grenny's fault and he did a good job in pushing us forward. But as a result we had to take risks and inevitably took losses. This mission is highly replayable. In it's current form it is challenging, and with the time limit restriction removed would make and excellent C.O training mission. We will revisit it in a few weeks time.
  13. That looks absolutely excellent. (I'm hoping Crusty doesn't notice that I've promoted him to O/C I platoon.
  14. Have sent you a PM with a link to the .sce file in my public dropbox folder.
  15. Downloaded! Many thanks for making this mission.
  16. Grenny, if you would like the job I'm more than happy to step aside as I'm currently more interested in developing new Mech Inf SOPs with KT.
  17. Hi Duke I'll take you up on that. I wish you good luck in the TTP contest.
  18. Ah, that explains it. The PM I sent you - which appeared to go through OK, but which you didn't get, obviously - was to invite you to C.O this Sunday's UKA mission. In the hope that you will accept I'll now jump out of the C.O's slot.
  19. I'll take that to mean 'No, but thank you for asking anyway'.
  20. Hi James Are you interested in multiplayer? (It's the quickest way to learn SB by far and nothing like as scary as most newbies imagine). If yes, what's your geographic location and/or time zone?
  21. If an experienced player (of any nationality) would like to take the C.O slot, that would be good.
