    Network Overload

It was conceptualize as a Squadron Defense and counter attack. So Battalion level mission for blue. Probably just a semantic argument or difference in terms. We always did mission size naming by the size of the tasked Blue element. A platoon may fight a company but it was still a Platoon attack or defense.

That's what happens when you use a full US ACR Squadron(battalion level command)TOE. 42 Tanks 40 Bradley's, 6 palis, 6 mortars, and support vehicles just on blue. Designed to fight an entire Russian brigade unsupported by corps.

    Network Overload

I will try it out this weekend when I can get everyone together for a test with the debug open and see if I can mine anymore data.

    Network Overload

Everyone is on cable internet. I am usually the host for all of our various games because my Internet is 300Mbps down and 30 up. My player that had no problems actually had the worst internet at 50/10. The one that lost control of his units has 150/20 and the one that couldn't enter his sights has 80/10. Everyone is wired to their modems. My PC has a 3770K @ 4.5 with a 1080 The player that reported no issues has a 6850K @4.2 with a 1080 The player that lost control has a 6700K with a 980 The one that could not enter his sights has an AMD potato build(It may have just been his PC bogging down) The map it self was modified to mimic as close as possible to the solona reservoir area of Ukraine. It has about 8 small cities, farm fields, hedgerows and forests as seen on areal photos. Units in the mission were accurate to the TOE for the 74 Motor rifle brigade, and Sabre Squadron 2/3 ACR -43rd CEC as of 2010. Roughly 300 vehicles between Red and Blue. It worked great in Single player testing with only minor frame drops after significant shelling of the cities.
  5. I created a battalion sized mission for my friends. Half way through I started receiving Network overload messages. One of my players reported that they could not command their units, and another reported that they were lagged to the point that they could not enter their sights. My third player and I had no issues. I am trying to track down the root cause before I make the follow on missions. So I have a few questions. 1. Was a battalion Sized mission too big for a normal PC host? 2. My upload speed is clocked between 25-30 Mbps is that enough band width for a large mission? 3. Was this a client issue and not a host issue? 4. Is there something else I am not thinking about? Any help getting this smoothed out would be appreciated.
  6. Thanks, the battle command worked position worked. Not having to go the map every time I move them to peak over a ridge line is nice.
  7. I am trying to figure out if there is a key press to get a Javelin team to redeploy its missile after manually moving them. When I move them manually they pull out their m4s and won't pull the javelin back out unless I go to the map and set an engage point.

True enough the dollars to reward might be low, but we really don't know what the final results of the program were. I can only assume that data vetting was part of the planned operation, but the army has surprised me before. Even with limited success this may have been deemed worth it since it only constituted .5% of the pentagon's funding. Also you are correct I should have specified that this was a black psyop instead of just black op. The difference didn't seem that important, but I guess it's the same to you as someone calling a bradly a tank is to me. On on a side note psy op or truth, I don't think Russia could make the upcoming election worse than it already is. No real fear has come of that one because we have bad and bad as our choice this year.

This operation was had two real prongs. First was bad pr to an enemy. This isn't the first or the most outrageous to do so. operation mockingbird lasted for over 20 years and entailed the CIA coopting reported and news papers. That little gem was responsible for a few revolutions. The second prong is no different than actions taken in operation mincemeat or fortitude. In both operations fake documents were leaked to the nazis that created some form of action. In mincemeat they went so far as to dump a dead British officer with fake invasion orders just off shore. The fact that the videos were made by the US for this is irrelevant, as this part of the operation is purely designed to find targets. By dropping the disks you can identify who is a supporter, and see how fast the these items move through their distribution network. By the actions taken by insurgents us forces gain valuable Intel on size and sophistication of the different networks. In in all this program is a standard black op. It is the same type of operation used since WW2, and even being out it still is working because now insurgent supports can't rely on videos to see how efficacious their org is.

Nice to see that operations on the scale of fortitude or mincemeat are still going on. Honestly it's a really nice use of an enemies own distribution network to find targets. Too bad the cover was blown.
  11. Ya it's the same concept. Instead of the cleaning brush you put a bell shaped attachment (bell rammer) on the end of the rod and push. It is only need when a round swells otherwise the loader just opens the breach manually and pulls the round out sometimes by hand or if he didn't get enough force opening with the round extractor tool
  12. Identifying and hitting in a M1 is not a problem. I was a Sepv2 tanker. My thermals were beautiful, and my bore sight was always tight. On a cav table 13, when I was checking my sector limits, I was able to identify hard target m60 hulls (not blurs but the actual outline) at over 5000m. When exercise actually kicked off I managed a 1 shot training sabot kill at Over 3000m ( don't remember the exact range 3400 sounds right but it was a while ago). I was fully confident that I could hit out to 4000, and score turret rings out to 2500. The only uncertainty in a real engagement would revolve around if the a3 sabot still had enough juice to defeat the era at extreme ranges.
  13. I had my loader remove plenty of rounds. Our standard practice back in 07 was to battle carry when we left the gate and remove the round when we got back in the wire. I only had one round swell in 15 months. For that one we just bell rammed it out.
