  1. Some screenies from Panzer_Leader's new scenario, Combat Team Advance at Woodhill 1994. I was pleased to do a few skins for this project. (No spoilers here). The Australians are testing the LAV-25 -- still in its USMC paint -- for suitability in a reconnaissance role. V11 of 2nd Cavalry scans for contacts south of Woodhill. Target identified, the mechanized infantry moves up. Supported by armor. The infantry assaults the enemy position. CSS moves up. FO and HQ Scouting ahead for an expected counterattack.

  7. Thanks for the comment, Gibsonm. I'm happy the skins are appreciated. I just used eSim's nomenclature for the vehicle, but agree it's more accurate to say it represents a Leopard ARVM, which was the Wisent 1's predecessor, but from photos the two appear nearly identical, so only limited squinting should be required. (The modeled Wisent is on a Leo 1 hull, like the ARVM, not Leo 2.)

    ASLAV-25

But only two. Versus six for the LAV-25. My own thought for starting the project (before Panzer_Leader's project surfaced) was to use maybe one ASLAV as my own vehicle and attach LAV-25's as wingmen, so I could at least command a platoon/company of LAV-25's from the commander's seat instead of F8.
  10. Can't do anything about making the vehicles A2's instead of 3's ... I think that's a fair request, though. But you can at least get U.S. camo on your M113 repair vehicle instead of Danish by using this skin mod. And squinting. http://www.steelbeasts.com/files/file/2448-m113g3-in-us-camo-40/

    ASLAV-25

Aussie with a Yank accent. The product of a sharp razor blade, some Elmer's Glue and a handful of crayons. Coming soon.
  13. The infantry 3D character models were introduced prior to 2.640. The textures became moddable with that version, but the procedure was bugged until 3.x, and the folder structure has changed since then, making any included readme for files of that vintage outdated. Also, normal and specular mapping and better lighting have been introduced which make 2.640 skins look pretty bad in 4.0, imho. That's especially true of cata's "British MTP Multicam skins" package, which sjr162 is trying to use, since cata painted a different style of body armor than the model now uses. Lots of complicated issues here, but the skins are still useable. First, choose which of cata's four versions you want to use. (As mentioned above, you can't install them all and then choose among them in-game). Second, rename the "interceptordress" file to "US_molle" because the UK troop model has changed since 2.640. Third, place this US_molle.dds file and its companion US_equipMOLLE.dds file in the appropriate uk mod folder. This is a crucial step, in that you must have the files in the correct season/theme folder of the correct nation folder. That would be \Documents\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\mods\textures\camo\woodland\uk, assuming your scenerio is on a woodland-themed map. (I typically put mods in all four season folders just to cover my bases.) Also, you weren't clear, but make sure you're copying only the graphics (dds) files into your mod folders -- and not cata's whole "4th ARM Bde Inf with helmet netting" folder, for example. The sim won't see them if they're contained in their own folder.
  14. I don't think you're not doing anything "wrong" -- assuming your infantry textures are also in the correct 'theme' folders -- But your expectations are a bit off-base. In SBProPE you are able to set camouflage for each SIDE ... not by individual unit. That's why the drop-down menu gives only countries as choices. Some creative variations are possible with troops and crews ... but only to the extent that you are using the available civilian characters. (AFV crews live in the civilian category, strangely enough). If you'll offer more specifics about what you're trying to achieve, I might be able to help.

  16. Let this serve as a bump; This should probably be in the Support forum ... Although, as Rangoon observed, there are other ways to get your hull facing a threat, it seems strange to me that the commander's view direction (white dot on the turret clock) rotates with the periscope of tanks so-equipped, but not with the commander's independent thermal sight. It's possible this was brought up before, but I can't find a post.
  17. Yeah, I read that thread, too. He thinks that if he sees a target of opportunity when he's in F7 view of the missile team, he has to switch to the map and set tactics for the unit in order to get access to the launcher. He is given a few suggestions relating to using the "e" key or setting default tactic/waypoint behaviors in advance. Maybe I wasn't clear. YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THAT. In the 3-D world (F7 or F8 in this instance), click the missile team's icon (lower right area of the screen). This gives you several actions. One of them is "Engage here." (Another is "observe here" ... another is "Shoot at unit" ... they will work in this case, too.) Click that command and then place the white pointer on the aforementioned target of opportunity. Assuming the squad has not already seen the threat, it will stop (if moving), set up its launcher without looking for a better battle position, and shoot the target (assuming it has LOS and appropriate fire orders). You can access the weapon sight as soon as the weapon is operational. No map involved; no separate step setting tactics. What's so tough about this? It works for me. Setting "e" or BP tactics will not keep AI soldiers from trying to crawl off into a "better" firing position -- and missing the firing opportunity. Using the icon's context menu gets exactly what paradoxbox wants, when he wants it. It might also get his squad killed because of poor concealment, but that's his business, I guess.
  18. How about using the "Engage Here" command from the squad's icon in the 3D view? See a target of opportunity; click the icon; click "engage here"; point to the target. When I do this, the squad stops and sets up the weapon (and engages the target if I don't jump to the sight first.) I don't need to bother with the map or setting a tactic for the squad.
  19. Mirzayev, I just wanted to say I've only watched a couple of these longform mp videos beginning-to-end, including this one, and I was in awe of your ability to remain tactically aware in orchestrating what became a two-front defense while at the same time effectively fighting your own two tanks -- from the gunner's seat. I lost track of how many kills you scored personally. Quite a good show.

This AFV crewman wears M/84 camouflage, a flecktarn-style pattern in use from the mid-80s until replaced over the past few years with a multicam pattern. The skin uses the UStanker crew model rather than the default DEtanker, so the mission-maker must "set look of crew" for the appropriate vehicles. Readme instructions included. Offered to the community in the interest of adding to the immersion of Panzer_Leader's fine scenarios.

  22. The M/05 (current) camo is up now. Don't know what happened to the rest that were uploaded at the same time; I'll check with Sean. By the way, you don't have to wait for a skin mod to switch crew models. In the absence of a modded skin in the folder the sim uses a default, unmarked one.
  23. I went back and tried again with vsync off, and the result was the same.
