  1. So I guess you are new to defence? These issues plague defence structures across the world.
  2. Well if potential OPFOR use WOT as a training tool, then that sounds like great news to me.
  3. Perhaps for “next time” but with 3 weeks or so to go for this one I suspect its too much effort and would probably end up looking like this: Post 1: We are creating this to keep you up to date with progress. Post 2: Its released.
  4. BMP-2 is already “in”. Or do you mean BMP-2 with wimpy branches attached?
  5. Four people in attendance. Did some low level Armour Infantry Co-operation An Infantry Platoon supported by a Tank clearing an enemy from an urban area. Quotable quote: "A beer full of fridges". Next week is "TEWT Night", where I believe the topic will be either: a. The subsequent action to this one, involving the rest of the Company, or b. A re-run of the 1986 Fulda Campaign scn2-627.sce (last played in the H2H round) but as a TEWT. Should be able to post some detail after the Tuesday night deadline.
  6. I thought for a minute that you meant Lt.DeFault, the forum member here (not the in game profile). As for AARs, not sure how to go with that since I know many here (and most military customers) would want to keep it “on” as the default. Perhaps an option to disable it, but then what do you do if you have turned it “off”, run a scenario and then want to save the AAR (without being able to get back to the “options” menu to turn it back “on”)?
  7. As long as the smoke is displayed on the screen and not coming from the back of the machine itself.
  8. Who? http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=16238 So if you are interested, send me a PM (or email) and I'll send you the invitation and set you up. Your message to me needs to contain: First name: Surname: Email Address: I’ll assume the nickname is to be the same as the one you use here. 0900 GMT on Thursday, September 5th. 1000 in London 1700 in Perth 1830 in Darwin 1830 in Adelaide 1900 EST in Brisbane 1900 EST in Melbourne 1900 EST in Sydney and 2100 NZDT in Auckland http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20130905T0900 This Thursday is "Training". One of the guys asked to focus on some fundamental troop and/or section fire and movement. So we will look at “best practice” use of a dismounted infantry platoon with tank support (?), to clear a small urban objective. As always, visitors / first timers are welcome.
  9. Not heretical but perhaps a bit lazy. Why not look at the last few entries (say post 120) in the “Release Date” thread?
  10. Tank image has returned to “home” as well.
  11. A CPL Loader / Operator? Is this the CO’s tank or some such?
  12. Dare I ask - Installed as Administrator?
  13. Right so what you are really asking is not "hitch to the back of a vehicle" but tow the vehicle with the front pointing away from the direction of travel? Yes you can "hitch to the rear of the vehicle" but as the towing vehicle moves and pulls the crock out of the bog/river or just starts to move (in the case of a lost track, etc.) then yes the towed vehicle turns automatically so that the hull faces the direction of travel. So if what you want is something along the lines of pulling the vehicle "back" from the enemy and keeping its glacis plate orientated towards the enemy, then that will currently not happen.
  14. Yes but if you read the whole of my post, I mention that if the vehicle drives into say a river then only the rear of the disabled vehicle is available since its closest to the back. To make it super clear you can: Attach the tow to the front of the disabled vehicle from the front of the towing vehicle. Attach the tow to the rear of the disabled vehicle from the front of the towing vehicle. Attach the tow to the front of the disabled vehicle from the rear of the towing vehicle. Attach the tow to the rear of the disabled vehicle from the rear of the towing vehicle. The combination is just determined by: 1. Which aspect of the disabled vehicle is closest to the bank. 2. Whether you drive up to the croc with the towing vehicle or 3. Whether you reverse up to the croc with the towing vehicle. So what he wants to do (at least the second request), he can do.
  15. May you live in interesting times ... Ssnake has just said (about 3.0's release): So I guess 28 Sept may well be "just before" or "just after" 3.0's release.
  16. From the performance thread, an update that I guess should go here too:
  17. Alright but your post came straight after mine and contains the words ... So I figured “I” was the “you” in question.
  18. You can do that now. You can drive front on to a crock, attach the tow, backup and turn the towing vehicle around and then drive off. Pretty sure that is articulated in one of my "How to" guides here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=16426 In fact if the crock has driven into a river, then usually the rear of the crock is the only side close to the recovery vehicle.
  19. I have no idea. If the guys have decided to forgo the new particle effects model “for the time being”* then I’m happy for any remaining loose ends to be cleaned up and the get it out the door (which I think is pretty much Ssnake’s intent). Adding anything new at this point (“new“ = anything not on the current to do list) to me is out of scope and should be parked for a mid patch/update release before the next paid one. Asking to add anything extra now starts you down the mission creep road, that they seem keen to avoid now. * Duration TBA
  20. Ah the ever popular “it seems like an easy change“. I suspect that : Is that whatever is easy to finish in the remaining time will be, and that’s it. I suspect that any alleged “easy changes” may well be somewhere down the track.
  21. Well option 1 is open ended. If they release the “improved particle system” as part of say SB Pro PE version 5.0 in 3yrs time, it would still be valid. And again under your Option 2 “never” is a pretty dramatic statement. Yet again just wait and find out.
  22. Well this is what happens when people demand a release date (unrealistic or not) and are surprised when it slips. I’m still working on “it will be ready when its ready“.
  23. Perhaps on your side of the Equator. Still to come here.
