  1. An enemy mechanized company (T-90, BMP-3) is heading south and you Leopard 2A5 platoon is the only one that can stop them.
Small and quite easy mission, good for COOP too. Enemy plan has some variety. Version 1.1: - Correct blue ammo loadout - Fixed red script here and there - Few other minor improvements

  2. Niinisalo, Finland, 1997. Fight a Swedish or Norwegian mechanized company, carrying the latest western equipment, with your T-72 company. Can the underdogs prevail against all odds?

Good for single player and multiplayer COOP.

Version 1.1: - Updated the map to latest version - Added an alternative adversary: A Norwegian company, with Leo 1A5 and M113 equipment. This one is a lot easier, but don't get roostery!

  3. Welcome to Niinisalo! The 28x48 km area in this map covers the training grounds, used commonly by Finnish mechanized forces in maneuver and live fire exercises. The Pohjankangas -area north of Niinisalo Garrison provides a long open stretch of terrain that has subtle height variations, providing good hunting grounds for tanks, while the wooded areas surrounding allow mechanized infantry to fight dismounted.

Height and Terrain maps included. You can use Kouvostoliitto themes with this map.

Version 1.1 has some minor details added to Pohjankangas, along with more realistic vegetation (less visibility outside the "desert").

  4. Welcome to Rovajarvi training area, Finland. It's one of the biggest training grounds in Europe, located in the northern third of Finland between towns of Rovaniemi and Kemijarvi. Here the Finnish Defence Forces train especially in the use of artillery and anti-tank weapon systems, but from time to time the Army uses the area for large scale maneuvers, like the "Trombi" ("Tornado") exercise in 2013 between two battalion battlegroups along with all the supporting arms. The terrain is just as difficult as the climate: During mid summer the sun does not go down at all and during the heart of winter the soldiers cope with endless darkness, frost and deep snow. Whatever the time of year, the flocks of reindeer get in your way and these animals are stubborn enough to stop an advancing mechanized battalion on their tracks, not giving way, and sometimes running straight into artillery splash zone when the grenades are already in the air... Reindeer meat anyone? Truly a place to take the military equipment to their limits:

It's recommended to use the Suomussalmi -map themes, that come with the installer, with this one.

  5. Finnish callsign templates (OOBs) for:
    - Mechanized Battlegroup organization (Leo2A4+BMP-2)
    - PanzerJäger Battalion organization (CV9030+Leo2A4)

Notice that these callsign templates are not 100% accurate, as Finnish callsign structure is such, that it cannot be replicated in SB callsign template structure with full accuracy.

  6. An enemy airborne unit is assaulting Jaala, and a friendly supply convoy is caught in the middle. Your mechanized company is rushed to the scene in order to get to the stranded POGs. Secure an LZ and make sure the friendly unit is extracted to safety. The town of Jaala hasn't been evacuated of civilians, as the enemy attack was a complete surprise, so you need to watch your fire! Our forces causing civilian casualties will have a devastating effect on their morale! It's still dark, but not for long. Take advantage of it and move quickly.

Own force: A mechanized company (Leo 2A4, CV9030) with supporting mortars, Spike ATGMs, mini-UAV and CSS unit.

Enemy force: ? (but chopper inserted...)

This mission is best suited for multiplayer COOP. There are 2 versions of the scenario in the package: one with blue force tracking only (enemies are not automatically shown on map), recommended for full athmosphere and difficulty in command&control, not to mention indirect support. The other has full map updates, but is for pu****s. ;)

  8. This pack contains all of my Finnish skins (desert, woodland, winter) for Steel Beasts. With the new SB Pro PE 3.0 national skin folders, things are a bit easier: Just throw the contents of this package in your "mods\textures" -folder. Under each environment is a folder called "fi", from where the skins will be taken into use if one of the parties in a scenario is set as Finnish. NOTE: After installing, copy the "woodland\fi" -folder into your "autumn\fi" to also have Finns appear in autumn themed scenarios!

Skins included: Infantry, Ural, T-72M1, T-55M, NH90, MT-LB, MT-55, Leo2A4, HEMTT, Fuchs 1A6 (looks like a Pasi), BTR-80, BMP-1, BMP-2, 2S1, with decals. Most also with winter skin, Infantry and Fuchs also in desert skin.

  9. June 15th, 1988 - World War III

3ACR is attacking via Porta Westfalica towards Stadthagen to stop the enemy main forces from linking up with airborne troops that hold the bridges over Weser at Minden. 1st Squadron has cleared its way through town of Klus to Achum and is preparing to engage the enemy main body.

2nd Squadron "Sabre" is following behind and will push north to cross Mittel-Land-Kanal to completely cut off the airborne troopers in Minden as well as to secure the 3ACR northern flank. Intel says the enemy has sent a battalion size forward detachment to link up with the troops in Minden and to flank 3ACR.

"Eagle" Troop from 2nd Squadron is attacking on point. Their mission is to bypass Minden and cross the Mittel-Land-Kanal and hold. You have 13 M3 CFVs and 9 M1A1s plus supporting units and artillery. Something tells you that this won't be a walk in a park...

This scenario takes place during the original Brave Rifles Campaign.

Dedicated to cobrabase. Hope there's enough challenge for you in this one! ;)

    Version 1.1.

  15. A Tank Company attack mission with variable enemy.

Your Tank Company, with attached mech inf platoon and artillery support is attacking in meeting engagement against a strong enemy. To win, you need to coordinate the attack well and concentrate the company's fire against the enemies in order to maintain fire superiority and momentum, as well as to keep casualties low. The OPFOR and terrain are created with training value in mind - keeping it cool and using the company well will bring in results. Going gung ho may end up nasty.

5 scenario files included, with different blue and red force equipment and difficulty:
    - Strv 122 + CV9040, easy
    - Leopard 2A5 + CV9035, easy
    - Leopard 2A4 + CV9030, medium
    - M1 + M2, hard
    - T-72M1 + BTR-80, sadistic

Remember to strike with a fist, not poke with fingers! The mission will end if you lose half your units...

This mission was originally created for ARRC basic drill, found it and updated to PE 2.6xx.

    - M1A1(HA) Abrams
    - T-72M1 (with American OPFOR force)
    - Summer version with good visibility and winter version with less so...
The enemy deployment is randomized each time you start the mission, so keep sharp!

Best suited for multiplayer COOP and singleplayer. Mission time max 60 minutes. Difficulty: Hard

  17. As a reserve company in a battlegroup fighting in delay, counterattack to stop an enemy mechanized battalion on its tracks. You have 2 platoons of Leopard 2A4s, 2 platoons of CV9030 and supporting platoons of engineer, logistics and ATGMs. Your mission is to inflict maximum casualties to the enemy while keeping yours low, and when ordered to, break contact and withdraw to battlegroup's main body. Difficulty and realism: high. Best played as MP COOP on blue side. Also suited for SP. Red side (and other bluefor) is fully scripted with a few possible courses of action against you.

An AAR (with spoilers!) can be seen here. Can you outperform "Multinational Task Force Duke"?

  18. June 1988 - West of Hannover. The epic World War III journey of 3ACR is finally here!

The BRAVE RIFLES multiplayer campaign was originally played in February 2011 by members of PE community. Many have asked for the scenario files since, so I decided to update the scenarios for the latest PE version. In addition to small changes here and there, mission ending events have been added.

There are 10 missions in total. The mission results carried over to next missions are according to the original playthrough in February 2011. Notice that the missions do not have scoring. The mission is either completed or it is not.

There is a video AAR series of the original playthrough available in youtube, here is the link for the first AAR (mission 2 in this campaign):

Enjoy! And remember, WW III was not supposed to be a walk in the park! ;-)

  19. Finnish infantry in the m/05 desert camo.

The Finns also operate more in the desert environment these days and along with the new m/05 summer, autumn and winter camo colours came the new desert camo. The camo pattern looks quite like the German version, but "unique" enough to stand out. But why would anyone want it to stand out? It's a weird world, where a camo pattern is made more visible just to avoid being identified as americans...? Or so the cynical rumour says, who knows if there is anything to it. Nowadays when Finns operate in international missions, the gear of the single soldier includes for example bullet proof vests with protective sleeves and that's what you will see on this skin as well. In some photos you see the combat kit is sand colour, but the green and olive are more common... Version 1.1: added the RK-95 mod by Ryujin, edit by me to include camo tape. To make it work for Finnish infantry only, add the ruswpn -file to same directory as the other files!

  20. Summer and winter infantry for the Finnish Army, in the new m/05 camo pattern. The fatigues have been aletered a bit, added the protective vest and new m/05 PALS webbing, new gloves and boots, helmet webbing (summer), edited olive pouches with the new opening system, new face with summer and winter camo paint in Finnish style and markings for summer skin - Finnish flag in the left sleeve and optional Lagus' Arrows (used by troops trained in Armoured Brigade) in the right sleeve.<br /> <br /> The new combat gear was widely issued from 2009 onwards. The new carrying system m/05 is a huge improvement over the old m/85, because the new one can be fully customized and weight is better distributed. The new digital 4-colour camo patterns are a result of very thorough research - providing the best blending in the surrounding - so they say... And they may just be correct as I cannot find my pants anywhere. Again. Version 1.1: added the RK-95 mod by Ryujin, edit by me to include camo tape. To make it work for Finnish infantry only, add the ruswpn -file to same directory as the other files!

  21. The Finnish XA-180 Pasi desert colour Fuchs skin, along with decals.

The Finns have used the XA-180, XA-185 and XA-203 Pasi 6x6 vehicles in international missions for a long time. Currently a company of Finnish jaegers is deployed in northern Afghanistan along with the Swedes to keep the peace there. With them, of course, are the trusty Pasis that provide excellent mobility and some cover against mines and IEDs, as well as small arms fire.

  22. Finnish summer and winter camo with markings for the BTR-80.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s the Finnish Defence Forces were testing APCs to equip more Jaeger units with. The BTR-80 too was tested, though the more expensive Finnish XA-180 won the contest, probably because Soviet Union went under... This skin is based on one of the test vehicles.

But the Finns did use another BTR variant, the BTR-60PB from 1970s onwards all the way to 2007. This skin is good for that use too, as the differences in BTRs 60PB and 80 are not that big, especially in terms of SB (same armament etc.). The BTR-60 was first used by the jaeger battalion(s) that would work with the T-54/55 tanks, and later when the tracked IFVs took over, they were handed to light infantry units, like the XA-180 Pasi.

  23. Summer and winter camo plus decals for da Finnish Army T-72M1. Turret top file included.

Finns bought the first T-72M1s from the Soviet Union in early 1980s. When the DDR went under, Finns bolstered the numbers to 120+, buying surplus equipment from the Germans. The T-72s made up the backbone of the two Armoured Brigades from 1990s to 2005 when the decision was made to dispand the Brigades and scrap the T-72 flotilla. The T-72s were last time seen in numbers during a refresher training in Helsinki in 2004.

The T-72 was loved and hated, and they bought a very special place in Finnish tankers' hearts. The old farts that worked with the tank propably say it was the best possible tank for Finnish terrain, where engagement ranges are short and small size could mean the difference between life and rather manly death by punching a hole in the clouds, still inside the cramped turret... Also the multifuel engine was excellent for the Finns, as during war time one may run out of petrol, but the T-72 would have no trouble as it could run on vodka, for example. And that's the last thing the Finns would run out of after copying paper.

Now sit inside the beast yourself and see if there is any truth in the stories and legends...

  24. The Finnish Army NH-90.

Finland bought 20 NH-90 TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) choppers for use in Utti Jaeger Regiment. They replaced the old MI-8s that served well for a long time. The NH pilots train to fly below treetop level in difficult conditions and darknes to enable the use of the choppers during war time to avoid detection and enemy AA. The choppers are mainly to be used to transport the special forces and units of the readines brigades. Other uses include search and rescue and helping out officials during peace time. The choppers are to receive Finnish made modular composite ballistic protection during 2012-2014.

  25. Fuchs 1A6 in Finnish summer and winter camo plus decals. A good substitute for the XA-180/185 Pasi, as both are very similar 6x6 APCs. Only thing is you got to make due with the 7,62mm peashooter instead the 12.7mm NSV!

The Finns built the XA-180 "Pasi" vehicles from 1983 onwards. They were used by the Jaegers, Finnish light infantry, in the Jaeger Battalions and Brigades in southern Finland. The vehicle is a simple and reliable 6x6 amphibious APC that was later fitted with the 12.7mm NSV AAMG. The vehicle can transport up to 16 troops and has good all terrain mobility. Nowadays the Pasi serves around the world, being used by Finns, Estonians, Dutch, Norwegians, Swedes...
