  1. Well, with the exception of one sound in particular ("fire"), by design SB does not play voice commands for the position the user currently occupies. But really, all you need to do is double tap the key for the round you want and it will get loaded unloaded and loaded in a tank. If you aren't sure what round you are telling the loader to load, just look in the top right in the commander's position and the red text will display of the round you are telling the loader to load next (flashing) or the round type that is currently loaded (not flashing).
  2. No, the AI will never fire on a car unless it sees troops get out of it (and even then it might only fire on the troops).
  3. Yes they do, in order to allow the Scenario Designer to customize the cars to be what they want them to be. The idea is that a scenario can have Computer controlled cars, Blind, no troops, no radio that either sit around or drive around on paths, and also have some cars that belong to that side which can be used to drive around and "watch" the other side, or dismount troops (insurgents) to cause problems. Penalize Blue for killing the "neutral" cars so that they cannot go around killing everything in sight and you might have an interesting scenario.
  4. Yes, give the car to Red and make it Blind. Also, in the damage list damage the "Radio" and "Troops". That should give the desired result I think. (Blind keeps them for spotting, damaging Radio will keep their location from being reported on the map of that side, and damaging the Troops is a fail safe to make sure it does not carry some troops that might shoot, although making it Blind should make this unnecessary - it is just a precaution).
  5. An idea: try spawning the car outside of the garage when you want it to come out.

I think I heard about this, isn't that the round that you fire indirectly in the general direction of enemy forces, up to 12 km or so away, and it arcs through the air, then acquires and homes in a tank like target? How boring would armor combat be (at least in a tank sim) at that point?
  7. It depends on if the rocks are an object or if they are put into the ground clutter. Since there seems to be some problems with rocks as clutter (they don't block anything anymore, and when they do it is irregular) then I suppose you are talking about rock objects. I further assume you are talking about the stock NTC map, because that is the map that has the most rock objects. In any case, from my assumptions, you probably need to open the map in the Map Editor, then take the eraser tool and erase out the rocks you don't want (you will probably see them speckled across the map). Then save the terrain file, then open your scenario in the Mission Editor, then select Refresh Map from the map menu. Done.
  8. Yes, that can be expected when an entire battalion is given one bridge to cross with no alternating routes if {X number of dead vehicles are in the vicinity of the bridge}. The AI will try its best to go down that one route, into the traffic jam of dead vehicles, and across a bridge that is probably too packed with vehicle to get them across - because someone told them so. (I'm just saying, its about 50/50 scenario design and AI behavior there.)
  9. What is that rifle... it looks to me like a Mosin Nagant 1891?
  10. If smoke does not come out of the barrel then it means the bore evacuator is not working properly and, consequently, the inside of the tank will be filled with smoke instead. But yes, most of the stuff you see is dust.

    Heavy IFV

Not the US Army, it is an Israeli vehicle that will (apparently) now be made in the US. We have the Bradley thank you very much.
  12. No, it is not be possible/practical to play a game of SB (or any game in general) through satellite internet. Sorry -- I know because I used to have a Satellite connection.

Well, there is no "lock on target" capability for these tank reticles (or any tank reticle for that matter). Having said that, I assume you are talking about the M1 or M1A1, and, if so, the only thing you need to keep in mind is that the reticle position points to where the round will end up once you fire the gun. Think of it as a dynamic gun sight in a modern fighter plane. Other than that, as the tutorials state, you simply need to put the sight on a target, track it for a minute, then lase and fire. You only press P when you are finished and you want to clear out/zero the lead. This is a different procedure on other tanks however...
  14. Strange, the files I posted seem to work fine for me. Oh well, I can't tell exactly what is going on because the reports are just too vague (no specific mentions of scenario files). For future reference, it would be extremely helpful -- if a tutorial is shooting back at you -- to list the scenario you saw it in. In any case, I think the files I sent might have been old ones, but it looks like the ones SergeyPe posted are good (thanks). We will try to get all of this fixed in the next update... in the mean time, the current method of opening in editor, double checking the Blind status, then saving is the way to go.

    War with now

Yeah, this thread title will be a good lightning rod for Google searches... maybe it should be removed lest we attract all kinds of nonsense?
  16. Yes, why mod it before you even have a chance to see/hear what you don't like first? You may end up replacing something you like before you have a chance to figure out if you like it. After you play it a bit it becomes easy to figure out what in particular you want to replace.
  17. Yes, you need to find a middle man, such as a pawn shop or gun store in your local area. What you need (to do to save some money) is go to cheaperthandirt dot com, and find the weapon you want and buy it from them (they are in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, I buy stuff from them all the time). Guns are a pretty good price there, and they spell out the whole process. They even have a feature where you put in your zip code and they show you all the FFL licensed "middle men" in your area. I happen to have a glass store (they make glass), and they also sell guns and ammo (go figure). They work as my middle man for a mere $50 fee. I say mere, because anywhere between $50 and $100 is pretty small fee for them to take for handling the transaction, it is up to you to shop around the different FFL middle men to find the lowest fee. Basically what you do is you speak to the FFL dealer first, OK it with them, then buy the gun on the website, print something out and take it to the dealer. You pay them the fee, they process the order and call you when it arrives in the mail and done (I might have something in the wrong order but it is a pretty simple process). Once you get the process down, you will probably be acquiring all sorts of weaponry. Oh, the altnerative is to just find a gun store in the area and buy something they carry, but you might pay $500 more than the gun is worth. BTW, if you buy an M4, get item #62245: Colt, M4 Match Target Carbine, Flattop, four position adjustable buttstock, quad rail, flash hider. $1,520.55. Then get you an EOTech 512 holographic sight off of eBay for about $400-$500. You will be in BUSINESS with that setup. You will need to buy some 30 round magazines and a front handle, but that is tiddly winks. $2,000 might sound like a lot of money, but that is Colt. Your alternative is to buy Bushmaster or Armlite or a lesser model for about $500 less. The model above is so expensive because it isn't a fixed stock, the top hand guard will detach (so you can mount a holographic sight easily) and because it is Colt. One thing you should remember however: guns do not lose value (unless you trash them), and they are only getting more expensive. One more thing, you can also buy a semi-auto Barrett cal .50 sniper rifle (the M82), item #69415 for $9,180.00. That's a pretty good deal, I remember when it was $12,000 just a few years ago! Of course each round is about $2.00, but that is another story...
  18. Ok, use the attached scenarios and replace the tutorial files you have for the Pizarro with these. This should correct the problem. The Windows 7 path for the tutorial files to replace is: C:\ProgramData\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\scenarios\z_Reseved\tut\Pizarro Let me know if that fixes the problem.
  19. It depends. Do you have the 2.546 update installed and they are still shooting back?
  20. Yes, maybe it will happen one day. It is on the list.
  21. Well, FWIW, I still think infantry are not as persistent and troublesome as they should be. Maybe they are bordering on "too deadly" at the moment, but they should be more difficult to root out (eventually requiring more of your own infantry and a great deal of artillery to do the job completely). In SB at the moment, artillery strikes may as well be orbital fire missions from a Star Destroyer: the infantry in an artillery box is usually vaporized to the man in one single fire mission, regardless of what the bumpiness levels are set at on the theme. This should not be the case, repeated calls should be necessary to weed them all out, and it should be somewhat difficult to kill a squad to the man, especially in high bumpiness areas. That is just my opinion: the pendulum isn't exactly "too far" as they could (and should) be more... pesky to be rid of. However, infantry are much more deadly in SB than they used to be, and that is definitely a good thing. They used to be such... pushovers.

    Sound Blaster

All of the X-Fi cards are good, but if you are going to use a microphone with it then you need to buy an extra USB mic. The reason for this is because Creative, in their infinite wisdom, chose to make the mic jack a dual purpose jack between it and a line in (I believe it is Line In, it might be some other input), which means they have no mic boost feature on the line. If you use a mic in that jack then no will hear what you are saying unless you shout -- it is an absurd design decision. They may have fixed it in the latest X-Fi cards however, but like I said, a USB microphone will solve that problem. It is the old Sound Blaster Audigy series that is now obsolete and is what you should avoid and upgrade from (if you have it). This link explains another problem dealing with X-Fi cards and Windows Vista (and possibly Windows 7), which is corrected with Creative's ALchemy software that comes with the card (the thread explains how to use it): http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=13431
  23. If you mean controllable infantry in the sense that you can run all over the place without a squad/team type structure like headless chickens then, no, it will never happen in SB. However, if SB could just get shadows, light sources, and normal mapping then it would look like that screen shot.
  24. ...well, it is just a matter of courtesy is all. In other words: modders should be somewhat courteous to the creators, otherwise there wouldn't be anything to mod. But that is just my personal modding philosophy (yes I mod too). No need for anyone to get upset. The mods look good BTW.
  25. Hmm, yes, I suppose that will not work then. You can give the IFV/PC Hold (or is it Defend) orders and the troops should dismount at the start (as long as you are not in the PLT LDRs position on one of the vehicles, otherwise you will have to tell them to dismount yourself). At least they used to dismount with those orders...
