View Full Version : SB2 Wishes

Here are a few things I'd like to see in SB2. NOTE: All these would be just options, so that their implementation would not change ANYTHING for SB1 users who wish to keep their current SB1 settings.
1) Separate palm switches and dynamic lead key, so that the same "Cadillacs" can work for both Leo and M1 (because palm switches are not the dynamic lead buttons on a real Leo, they are separate).
2) Modelling of the Leo palm switches, i.e. you have to squeeze them in order to enable gun stabilization and control of the turret.
3) Reversed palm switches for both tanks.
4) The ability to customize joystick response curves, in order to recreate realistic response for those who have some sort of gunner's handles.
5) Same traverse rate in both 3x and 10x. I've had a few instances where I was tracking a target in 10x TIS and switched to day channel for better ID, which was in 3x, causing the GPS to jump ahead of the target. Wasted a few precious seconds there.
Well, thats it for now. As I said already, these features would be optional, which means that you wouldn't have to use them if you like the current settings (after all, what I asked for would only work adequately if you had some sort of gunner's handles or Cadillacs).

Just like to add couple of things.. As far as the palm-switch for the Leo.. I love the way it is on my Wingman joystick.. smooth application and goes with the flow of the turret swing..via the movement with stick.. please don't change that.. :heartpump:
Also.. any chance of LOS (and colored map) during battle.. rather than in planning stage only? (some of us civi's have hard time reading flat-white-maps.. during battle).. an "option" so for those that must have the real thing.. can stay white-flat..
Would consider these wishes a great christmas :present: .. thanks Ls :yltype:

LS,
in battle you can press the SPACE bar and you get the colored map as long as you hold it ;)
Well LOS, for my taste it should be:
-like it is in planning phase in EASY mode in battle too
-like it is now for moderate
-LOS tool (ALT) from own or friendly position only (battle), (no checking if this or that position can be spotted from this or that pos) in HIGH difficulty. This would simulate the "can you see the hilly small tree group at NNW" thing.
Just my HO

Don't worry Ls, I asked for it only as an option. :D

The LOS tool cannot be applied in the execution phase simply because it needs too much CPU power. There is a point-to-point LOS tool however! See the last paragraph in the manual's chapter about the LOS map (page 20 in most manual versions)

Aren’t wishlists fun?
1) good graphics and sound effects!!! (+delay in distant sound)
2) realistic water model and bridges (when are we gonna see some pics?)
3) full simulation of the Leo & M1 gunners place. (+adjustable tis)
4) crewmembers for each vehicle (that can swap places when needed), with damage modelled when hit and ability to abandon vehicle.
5) option of moral in editor. A units members surrender after specified casualties. (coming out with their hands raised :P )
And maybe a new idea (?): How about your units reporting damage over the (sound) radio after they’ve been hit.

On the M1 the TIS magnification and the Daylight magnification are two different switches and are in different places. They dont correspond with each other, you have to change each one manually. The magnification for each will stay where you left it last.
Also the traverse rate is always the same, it just looks faster in 3x.

Sgt.,
in SB traverse speed IS dependent on mag, unless you use the mouse. But for Joystick its way slower [edit] in high mag.

:o :hallucine: :D
Holy crap. I had no idea.
Every time I wish for a feature in this game, it turns out it's already in there. There better be people in chat tonight, cuz I can't wait to start The Rest Of My Life Where I Know About The Color Map Thing.

Sgt, I know that they are set independently, the problem is that in SB, the traverse rate is not the same in 3x and 10x. Test it: Track a target in day channel 3x mag (M1A1), and then switch to 10x. You'll notice that you are no longer tracking the target, the GPS will fall behind. Same thing if you track in 10x and switch to 3x, it will fly in front of the target and you'll have to let go of the stick. I would like an option to switch this off in SB2, since on the real tank magnification setting has no effect on the hydraulics that drive the turret.

It's been in even in V 0.30, and probably before.
Now in regards to L*'s statment about the white/colored maps.
When I play a MP game, after the launch all I can see is the colored map.....
Not sure if it is suppose to be like this, but on the 4 different systems I've played SB on it's runs this way???
In planning before the start it can be hard to see whats going on, as the contrast between the red/blue unit markers and the light to dark brown is almost non-existant....

:P That explains it.. send some my way Boof.. lol L*s
that's what I thought it said...lol "after launch" of game... damm..all this time it was possible.. how does it work that way for you..? and just white for me..?

O, I see what your saying now. Never really noticed this, then again, I rarely ever track anything in 3x, anyhow, I agree thats not the way it should be.

Sgt, its only a problem when you're tracking in 10x TIS and switch to GPS (and vise versa), which happens to be in 3x. However, I realize that most people like the current response curve, so all I am asking for is an option to have a realistic traverse rate, independent of magnification setting (again for those with some sort of Cadillacs).
