Which map in the game is the Grafenwoehr/Vilseck area? I have been tasked to create a Tank Table XII for the office. I know there is a TTXII in the game, but they want one specially made. The map for the "Range 301" is close but the grids are off. Anyone have any suggestions or answers.

As I recall....

If you go into the map editor from the main menu, then open whatever map your working on, open the "edit" menu from the top right and select "move grid".

You can shift the grid lines any which way...but loose..... (grin)

Give it a try

I did that but it's not the same ground I guess. It "looks" like range 301 but thats about it. I was hoping there was a direct reflection map of the GTA (Grafenwoehr Training Area). No matter..."Driver continue to bound..."

I do not think there is a Graf height map. I made the current Graf map for the TT XII scenario but since I did not have the height map for the Graf area I just made it look like range 301 and threw some tanks down on it to represent an AGMB just for practice.

I suppose you could find an actual height map of Graf somewhere and then customize it to look like range 301 but I am unaware of where you could find one.

Hey brother,
looks like i finally got with the times and found email again. So tell me, how are the Space Pixies coming along? Oh and how many folks did you graduate from the last TCE class?
Lemme know if you need any help on the TT XII. Just yell down the office.

If you have the time and energy, you could do the following:
(assuming you're really US Army) ;)

Get with your local engineers (or else your local S-2 or equivalent). They almost certainly have the DTED .dem file for Graf. Have them use Terrabase to save the elevation map as a grayscale elevation bitmap. Use SBMapper or something similar to convert it to a heightmap file. (Perhaps complicated, but you should be able to find info about it in the old forums).

Then, get your hands on overhead imagery of Range 301, with grid lines. Use the mapping tools in SB to recreate the vegetation, etc. (A trick is to print out the blank map from the map screen, then use a copier to enlarge/reduce it onto acetate until it's exactly to scale with the overhead imagery. You can then post it over the aerial map, and use that to compare individual grid squares)

The level of detail you get only depends on the amount of time you want to put into it.
(Message me if you have questions)

BTW, keep in mind that most NIMA DTED data of any interesting resolution is almost certainly proprietary to the US Military
