Any fans of the Close Combat series should check out this Mod:

http://www.militarygameronline.com/CloseCombatGJS/

It is a mod for CCV: Invasion Normandy but it is more like an entirely new game. It uses the CCV structure to model the British and Canadian landings at Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches on D-day and the campaign to capture Caen. Also, it replaces the units used in the original CCV with the units engaged in the Caen sector and modifies weapons/tanks/graphics and uniforms.

It is a huge piece of work and because of that, there is quite a bit of downloading needed to get it. There are 20 new maps plus the many data changes to the original game. However, if you are a fan of cc it is well worth it and there are easy-to-follow instructions on the web-site. On the down-side, this mod doesn't really change the idiotic AI that plagued the cc series since A Bridge too Far; therefore, solo play is still pretty bad. But on the bright-side, H2H play looks really great, so... I would only recommend it if you are planning on playing against human opponents.

And if you get it, or already have it and are looking for an opponent, let me know! :D

Edit: for spelling (yikes!)

Which version of CC does this modify? I never played the CC games but I've heard good things about this mod in other places and the subject matter interests me greatly so if I can find a budget copy of CC somewhere I might give it a go.

Hey Gipper! long time no talk. We should partake in the drinking of the beer sometime :o

It modifies "Close Combat: Invasion Normandy" sometimes known as CCV although it doesn't say CCV on the box. The company who produced it, Atomic, went out of business shortly after its release so... might be hard to find a copy. Maybe check the Video Game Exchange or that book store on Johnson st. that also sells used games.

The Canadian units are great, they have a different make-up from the British ones... different equipment and so on. The people who made this Mod really put a lot of time into researching the units.
