Desert Skins - how to apply them

I got this in a email today and don' know how to answer it.

In the mains SB folder, there is a folder named "models" containing the skins used in the game.
Copy the desert skins into this folder and make sure they are correctly named.
(example: M1A1_desert.bmp won't show up, it must be called M1A1.bmp)

Is this about SB Gold? Doesn't this include a skinning utility and extra skins?

NOTE:

You need to rename the existing files by adding something like _old to the skin name i.e. M1A1_old.bmp. This will stop the new file from overwritting the existing file.

Then again, if you are real lazy :) and you don't wanna rename everything - over-write them. You can reinstall SB to get the originals back. It will keep your score ratings and personal records - they won't be over-writen. (At least, I'm pretty sure of that ;))
