Hi,

For newbies, aquiring good situational awareness (SA) in Steel Beasts (SB) is often quite a challenge :
"... What's happening ? ... Where am I ? ... Who's firing at me ? ... BOOM ..."
... I guess we all remember the confusion we went through during our first virtual SB-battles.

Good SA is also an extremely important matter, to be successful in SB.

Therefore, to make things a bit easier for newbies, I collected on various forums some quotes about the do's and don'ts concerning SA.
I just uploaded these quotes in a zip.file in the tutorials (didn't know where else to do so - don't know either when the upload will be visible to you, 'cause I don't see it yet).

Some of these quotes overlap each other. I didn't have the time to clean these overlaps out. Also, to gain insight, it helps when things are phrased in several ways & repeated.

I hope it can be useful to someone, especially now with the old forum a bit out of reach.

BTW As you will see, most of these quotes are from the hand of Mekhazzio. So hats off to you, Mekh !

Best regards,

Koen.

Plz gentlemen, allow me to recall one online battle.

I was in a detached tank, knowing that a certain opfor tank was in a woodline ahead of me, i started moving within a depression much like a trench, to try to acquire LOS on the tank, i could hear firing, but i could not precisely locate, suddenly, i started to hear sabots flying above me, as if i was being fired upon, and then a few miliseconds after the muzzle sound of a tank, later, i discovered it was actually a second tank that was not firing at me but, firing at other fellas. It was Poker, if i dont recall bad. I think he blasted a tank section or platoon. I dont know why it did not occur to me, SB is so real, and the situation was so logical and accurately portrayed. I was just located exactly below the fire trayectory of another tank. SB is amazing. Sounds are very important in this case.

I hope i explained the situation right, is still difficult to me to talk in a foreign language, sorry.

Greetings

oh, good topic btw.
