Ok, this time, an hour into Where the Iron Crosses go, boom, SB disappears. No lock up. Nothing. Just disappears. Granted this was not 5 minutes after the Mrs. says it's time to go to bed, but I can't blame this on her.
I had nothing running. No firewall, no browser, no nothing. No Teamspeak. Nada. Been playing for at least an hour at the time of drop.
Anyone else experience something like this? Ever? Are things like this chalked up to the Internet Gods?
Aaargh...

Could be the internet gods, or your lady psionically killing the SB process. I've had crashes to desktop late in a game, and assumed Windows had just misfiled a pointer or some bloody thing.

I have that as well, one in a while.
Just goes back to desktop, I think it's a virtual memory proplem.
It looks like if Windows in trying to increase the size of the swap file when it happens. Usually I have it when I did not re-boot my laptop afeter 3-4 days as I use the standby mode.

 Ok guys, GsGunn turned me onto the following site for a free download of a program that optimizes your RAM..
 http://www.webattack.com/get/fastdefrag.shtml
With this program, no more rebooting, just takes like 20 sec's and my PC goes from say:
Used Hard Memory .. 78%
Total Physical Memory: 384mb
Free Physical Memory: 108mb
Processor Speed: 483mkz
Processor Usage: 63% to:
............
Used Hard Memory .. 30%
Total Physical Memory: 384mb
Free Physical Memory: 284mb
Processor Speed: 503mkz
Processor Usage: 18 - 30 %
What I really like about this program is, that you can, at a clk, anytime, see where your PC system stands in regards to Tempory Ram being used, along with Processor Usage, and without re- booting or changing anything in permanent Ram files, just clean up in 20 sec's your temp Ram, and get your PC fast and ontrack without the time delays of re booting.. just hit the "clean"
Hope this helps ..

Ok, I'll check out the app and try it. Do you run this during the game to see if you are getting close or just run it prior?
This type of drop that I had the other day is I think the only the 3 or 4th time in the almost 2 years of playing sb. Still, very frustrating especially with the other problems I've had recently.

Another trick :
If you have 2 (or more) hard disks , set up your virtual memory on a different disk than the one where Windows and Program Files are .
This way , Windows can do the reading/writing of the virtual memory on Disk 2 without disturbing Data aquisition from SB on Disk 1 . :D
Cheers . :3starsk2:

Just prior.. I only use it if my Ram gets down below 100mb an my Memory usage is greater than 68%.. I can tell by how fast my start windows come up.. if slow, I chk.. if fast, I just chk anyway to see what my readings are. Like I said, if I choose to fast defrag my temp memory, it only takes 20 secs.. then good to go..
