What is the real difference between the five moving styles (engage, assault, march, retreat, scout)? I know there is a tutorial mission that briefly explains them, but I don't really know when to use which ones. All I know is that you don't stop when you are retreating. I think.

Generally, I always make it an Engage order

Oh, and I'm using the demo version of the game, if that matters.

The main difference is in what the unit does when it sees bad guys, although each "style" also has a default formation and speed.

Engage - default wedge/fast - when you see bad guys, act as if "E" has been hit (stop, start shooting and creep forward/backward until you find a hull-down position)

Assault - default line/top - when you see bad guys, keep rolling and start shooting unless they're right in your way, in which case stop and shoot

March - default column/fast(?) - when you see bad guys, keep rolling and ignore them unless they're right in your way, in which case...?

Retreat - ??? - pop smoke, reverse for a bit and then turn around and go top speed

Scout - default ?/slow - when you see bad guys, pull back to the checkpoint you started at. (Note that this doesn't work if you just started the route from the unit.)

Engage is a great all-purpose tool, but they all have their uses. The manual explains them in a bit more detail than I just did.

Greetings all,

Ref. the info requested, and the responce to "see the manual" He's got the Demo...

Hence No Manual.

I would suggest that you - Strogian - look for a copy of the full game at some of your local shops. I've heard it's avail. in a bundled pack, but don't know if there's a manual included? And as always I would suggest you see the " Anti Frustration Kit " .. See the left column for the heading, under " Online Play "

Welcome to the forum. Later ..... 9erRed

How do you make an IFV and its Infantry close assault a Target?

Example: Bradley and dismounted Inf are moving in a straight line. Enemy Inf pops up left and Bradley and Inf veer left Firing all the way. How can u achieve this w/ using Scout and Adv slow options?

I think they only drop the troops when at a BP or on scout >> So Scout with fire at will orders may do it

Put them on engage and slow.
