I suggest something like this:
(Hit Percentage/Average time to hit) *100
For example: Hit percentage 100% and an average time to hit of 3.3 seconds
would produce a score of: 3030
100%, 2.8 seconds would get: 3571
91%, 8 seconds would get: 1138
50%, 25 seconds would get: 200

Kinda like the Tank Tables formula?

Hmmm, I guess.......I've played about 10 different tank tables, but I never opened up the editor and looked at the scoring scheme.

I also suggest......instead of letting someone do the range 1 time to get his gunnery score, he has to do it in a series of 3 times, averaging the scores.
Also......if the AI is going to be based on the score like in SB. I suggest you encrypt the score using the players registered name. As it is now, you can change your score to whatever you want using a hex editor, or give your profile to someone else.

D'oh!!! Why didn't someone tell me you could change your gunnery rating with a hex editor before I spent all of that time practising :x
Hmmm..... actually...... why didn't someone tell me there was such a thing as a hex editor..... & what it does :?
Oh well..... just another of the benefits of being silly I suppose
Tally ho!!!

That's how we do it in the 29th, for range scores. The scores given on our merit board are averages derived from three shoots on the tank range. We also do other gunnery exercises, too. :)

G'day all,
Whilst reading this thread I have become a tad curious as to how gunnery ratings are currently obtained for MP battles.
Does the rating currently attached to each players profile on their own PC's transfer to the MP battle? Or does each player have to shoot the range at least once in MP mode & this rating is always utilised? Or does each player have to shoot the range before each game & this new rating is utilised?
Looking forward to being the lucky recipicant of this fearless band's usual font of wisdom,
Yours sincerely,

I belive the gunnery rating of the host computer is used for everyone.. So if you get a host that can not shot then your AI will be bad shots
