View Full Version : Logitech Extreme 3D PRO problems

I have encountered some problems with my Logitech Extreme 3D PRO joystick. It is "unstable" around the center position - this is also very evident on the test screen in the Logitech menu. When in the TC position in SB - whether using "turret view", binoculars or GPSE on the Leo - the view moves left/right in small jolts. At first I thought that the TC views in some way had been slaved to the gunner, but that is not the case. Furthermore there is a very noticeable difference in speed when moving the stick to right, compered with a movement to the left. A movement to the right is extremely slow, and this is also evident on the test screen where the "crosshairs" will not move completely to the right.
It is a bit complicated trying to explain this in a foreign language, but I hope you get the idea. Has anyone experienced similar problems?

try ctrl+J to center the joystick. also, have you calibrated the stick?

Dane - if the stick is analog, and you are running Win2000/XP you may see this problem.
My older Logitech Wingman Attack had the exact same symptoms: reduced functionalty of TC position due to forced "look forward" command (it has no POV hat), slow performance tracking right, (but not left) slight instablity when stick at rest, and jerky preformance around the center of the screen. The SB reset doesn't help, nor does a windows calibration effort. It seems XP doesn't like joystick ports, period.
My solution was to upgrade to a USB stick with a hat (Logitech Attack 3d Pro) to solve both my TC problems and make for a rock-solid platform. I have been tweaking the settings of this 11-button beauty, trying to set up profiles for my use in Leo or M1 mode, but I am VERY pleased so far.
Sorry it may be a $ issue - I hope you can work it out without resorting to the "buy a new one" solution.
I think these problems are caused by dying pots (the things that actually report on the position of the stick) try contacting the manufacturer and asking for new ones so you can replace them.

Oh yes, the slow to the right, fast to the left, seen it many times. What I did was at first, just uninstall stick program and reinstall it.. works for a while. Then I tried the shiftkey and J key at start of game.. can't hurt.
But the best I have found is go to the Wingman site and download the latest driver for you stick.. mine came with like a 2.20 and the latest drives is something like 2.27.. and it seems to work for a long time before I have to re calibrate, or hit the shift key and J key at same time just as game begins..
Good luck..

hopefully is not a hardware trouble. I had another joystick that did the same, slow to one side, quick to the other. It solved with calibration. The trouble with logitech, is that once the profiler is installed the calibration within windows control panel is not allowed. Mine behaves wierd with the profiler. It does not respond properly on the vertical axis (it responds very slow), Y axis i think. right and left are a bit jerky as well. So, i opted for quit the profiler and the macros, in favor of a more stable behaviour. I have an extreme 3d digital, i dont think is the exact model you have, mine is not pro. You could give it a shot, uninstalling the profiler and see what happens. Good luck
