...

This morning, after reading Joe's 31st TGIF AAR, I felt his pain :( as I too, have great problems with the AI Logic and Key commands for them..

I know that both Juan and Hector are the "Masters" of the grunts IMO, and their grunts are better than anyone elses I have ever seen.. why?

 what do you do when :?:

l. You hop into platoon, and they are on route and spot tank.. Stop them (what key) and hit F key.. a/o hit shift key plus lase to designate target to them.. (hopefully..lol)

2. They have clear flank shot at or closer than 800m, but either refuse to take shot, or set up to take shot, then decide not to, (no objstructions) and continue running right at the tank..

3. What key do you hit to turn them around at least, if they keep running right at enemy target?

4. What key do you hit to stop them immediately, and then hopefully take aim and shoot missle?

...............

If I left out any condition/s that others have experienced, do list it here, along with any commands that I do not know about, or ones that will improve their tactics and most important.. results..

Thanks...

I try to get the commissar's troops to patrol behind my infantry, carrying burp guns. That way, the infantry are always 'encouraged' to advance in the correct direction.

Make sure you hit the correct keys, though.

When your infantry misbehave, you need to tap, in rapid succession:

H: For HALT
S: For Shoot them all
V, V, V: For Vodka, to toast the infantry's glorious sacrifice

If you have troubles making troops go , do as i do : grab the nearest vehicle , and start driving at the troops . That will make them run ... :nuke:
But it appears that the AI of SB troops directly based on real intellegence if dismounts . Dismounts of the world , die !!

javehn, not very diplomatic of you. there are quite a few dismounts here :silly:

infantry can be a pain if they have anywhere to hide. unfortunately, they can't hide in SB1...so they're the poor buggers that get shot first. no need to use them for actual combat

i actually get a fair amount of kills with infantry, and i use the same keys as i do to control tanks
S for stop, X to change direction, etc etc. I steer them same way i do a tank

as to get them to fire, sometimes they wont fire unless they behind the tank

They wont do shit if artillery falling nearby, and if anything has spotted them they also seem to become unresponsive.if undetected they seem to respond fairly well. i get a couple kills a game with infantry, on a good day.

it's true that they can be steared just as tanks, but with delay. sometimes they just love to run THAT direction, and not another. crazy grunts.
you can have some kills with grunts. i've been practicing combined assaults lately, and it's very good, if you can keep a close look at it. the grunts are a good addition to the tanks. on the other hand, you have to keep close, and stear them, or they're lost quickly. they can't keep their hinds safe all by themselves.

Oopsy  . My bag.

I don't know , except of puting the infantry inside the trees , i can't find any good use for them . I also control them like tanks , but from time to time , they tend to pick their own direction , and flee that way . You may call it , mutiny .
