Just wondering: are we content with the basic rank tags?
At present they go
Enlisted 1-19
Officer 20-99
Senior Officer 100-499
General 500-999
Old Hand 1000+
We could do some kind of progression like
Loader > Driver > Gunner > Crew Commander > Platoon Commander > Company Commander > Hardcore Tanker
or
Trooper > Corporal > Sergeant > Master Sergeant > Lieutenant ... etc
or
We could leave well enough alone. 8)
Any thoughts?

you could do something fun. eg:
Rebel fighter > Storm trooper > Young Jedi > Syth > Yoda > Darth Vador
you can use a combination of movie characters that are easily recognizable.
another eg:
Conscript > Werrmacht > Desert Rat > Waffen SS > Marine > Commando
i would go with the latted example. 8)

I hate to enter discussion like this
I like the idea of tanker ranks, more apropiiate for a tank sim. I also like the first optiona made by M1. I dont like the second, not because is not cool, but because we would never agree on which branch tops which. Since this is an english spoken, typed forum, we could have english ranking system

You're begging for more work. I'm sure the rest of the community would be happy with pretty much any ranking system you create, to include leaving the old one in place. I might object if the progression suddenly became puppy>whelp>..., but then I might not.
Unless someone has threatened to burn you where you stand I wouldn't sweat it, and if someone has threatened mayhem, the rest of the regiment would be glad to offer...counseling...to the offending party.
Work, like love or wisdom, should come to you.

I like this one:
Loader > Driver > Gunner > Crew Commander > Platoon Commander > Company Commander > Hardcore Tanker
The probleme is that there will be not a lot of hardcore tanker because of customs tags when reach 1000!

I really do not see any reason to feel pride in being a member of the Waffen SS or the Wehrmacht of old - the times when the Wehrmacht washed their hands in innocence have been passed over by historians - especially German ones!

yes, i guess SS obersturmbahführer Hector von Garcia by the grace of SB.com sounds bizarre :D
That was what i was going to say, but wanted to be unoffensive. I mean, we have the Red Sea Pedestrians for whom we are very fortunate to see contributing in this forum and whom I wouldnt trade for any SS rank(also other people who dont live in Israel but are from Jewish origin), and I dont think they would like to have Nazi origin ranks, branchs on them specially or on us fellow players. I do like Panzer troops, but, no, we cant put aside their crimes (Waffen SS) or the policy they fought for (Wehrmacht).
Ssanke and Chrissoto are true Gentlemen. I am not. I would not like either to have comando or marines, or mexican branch, not only because i am weak civy and the title is too much for me,, but also because none of them are white pidgeons themselves precisely

I totally agree with Ssnake here.
It takes a lot of the fun out of the game if you open up discussions on that topic. I´ve seen that on a Panzer Elite Forum where people started a discussion whether Oradour sur Glane was a Massacre or an appropriate solution to the threat of the French Resistance. The community broke up about this topic. I would never think that the SB.com people would do the same, but i think that Nazi-Stuff is not our thing.
I would not take pride in having a "SS Obersturmbannführer" or similar Nazi Rank on the Forums or somewhere else. Even if "Wehrmacht" is not a substitute for "Nazi" (many Soldiers were not in the NSDAP) it still has a foul taste to it.
By the way: SB is not simulating WW2 Equipment, or is it ?
Anything else would be fine with me

...I just can´t help myself.
But really: If communities like this do not use "self control" to some extent, they usually break apart. However, THIS community is old enough to know that without me saying it. :D
