HELP! computer freezes when playing SB!!

guys.... I NEED HELP!!!!

I bought a new puter a few weeks ago and its wondeful.. exept from that Windows freezes when I play SB..... :?

its a Pentium IV 3Ghz 512MB DDR RAM 9600 Radeon grafik card.... and I have DX 9.1 installed... can anyone help me???

What do you mean? As in SB freezes or the operating system take a dump on you?

Make sure your driver supports 640x480 screen resolution. Some ATi drivers only start from 800x600 on.
Also, you may need to set in the executable's compatibility settings that it is a 256 color application.

It starts from 640*480... will check it...

didnt work, cant find a driver with 640*480 but will send a mail to the support.... and one more thing that make it all more weirder....

ITS ONLY IN MP IT HAPPENDS!!! i played SP directly after Leaf and my tryed... and SP works great

1.> KT.. so, does it start out at 640x480 on your resolution settings? OR Higher ? And do your settings have a 256 color setting ?

2.> And if it works fine in SP, but you're crashing during MP, then may it have something to do with being online and in MP and is a firewall issue or wrong port settings ?

* I can't recall what the port settings for SB MP are, something like 2300 - 2400

Summary:

Computer freez when playing SB in MP only (yes, entire computer freezes upp) not in SP by some reason

I have downloaded latest driver from ATI but no, no driver for 640*480, only from 800*600 and I have contacted support but no useful reply yet (for a driver that supports 640*480)

I have sett compability to windows 98 and 256in coulors and 640*480 in resolution (if U klick on Sbloader and goes to compability)

and Ls, still use same old Modem, same drivers... But I can give it a go and try to shut down bullguard and firewall when trying to play next time...

hehe, search your old one in your trashcan.and throw away your new comp. Sure somebody would be happy to get it.

You could try Catalyst 3.9 from ATi. It doesn't list screen resolutions under 800x600 on my system either, but still it renders them in full-screen mode. I can run SB1 on my Windows XP system with Radeon 9700 Pro.

dang..... stupid of me to make that misstake by now.... fixt it so now its Tanksim.exe thats compability changed....
