Hey Wildfire, glad to see you made it. Come on up to Iraq, the water is fine! Just keep your head in the game. Oh by the way everyone, I just returned from my R & R. I spent two great weeks in Europe and most of it at either Amsterdam or the coast of Normandy. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

I am really surprised. The food here is nothing short of outstanding. Nothing compared to my first or second time in this theatre of operations.

Ohh, and we have air conditioned tents. That was almost unheard of when last I was here.

Sorry HH. I am not permitted to give you that info. You know, comsec.

Thanks for the support though, but I think I have everything I need.

I cant wait to get online with you fellas and mix it up. Miss u all. And no, I am not getting sentimental. Just miss the good times.

OK. Next time I write u all I should be in Iraq. I have not heard much news, except what I read in the Stars and Stripes. From what I have read, it seems that things r heating up and I might be there in time for the big showdown.

Well, bye for now.

Well Pro is in the thousands of dollars (I think), so it really wouldn’t matter much if it is on sale to the general public now would it?
Oh, good luck there. Be careful.

...Shot, my APO is:

Thanks, WF. The 29th is going to send you a cake with a stripper in it, or a stripper with a cake in her, or something. We'll have to bake it ourselves; no problem, what can possibly go wrong?

Down that path lies madness. Don't tempt Pandora, stay away from the bottle marked 'djinn', you get the idea.

Besides, it probably has something to do with toast.

Hehehe. Funny stuff Shot. LOL. I would'nt know what to do with the stripper, it's been so long. The cake on the other hand...

Well, I've been dodging mortar for the last couple days. It seems we get hit daily, 2 rounds here, 4 there. But our arty and rotar wings respond before the bad guys can unass the a/o.

The other day my unit was tasked with escorting a convoy from Cooke to Victory. We got to Victory with no problem. About 10 minutes later a unit got hit at the same area we passed through. Itt was kinda funny in a way because the plt leader was sweating bullets and our Sheriff was talking the lt through the skirmish. Lt called for assets and ...hhe... he had m1's available but he did'nt know what to do with it, so the sheriff got f 18's and they were on station for awhile waiting for the lt to give the call...then ah64's were called in but by that time the bad guys dispersed. it was pretty funny stuff.

ok, by for now.

Oh, is sb pro pe available? And, can an average laptop handle it?

Wildfire out.

What's an average laptop to you?

We're beating ourselves stupid trying to figure out what to put into a package of goodies that:

A) Won't get you in trouble with Allah, or his local reps
B) Can be consumed, without going bad on the trip
C) Is otherwise entertaining

If your laptop can handle it, we might send -Pro, but I won't make any promises in that direction. Besides, you're probably getting enough real 'fun' that you don't need any of the virtual kind.

We're also taking suggestions. I'm taping a bunch of football, that'll prabably make someone happy. I recall that peanut butter was like effing gold when I was in Korea. Something similar apply there?

You can see we're doing better at beating ourselves stupid than at coming up with any ideas. Ask your pals, I imagine we can send a little something along for everybody.

Post what type of baked goods you'd like. I'll see if I can get my wife to whip up a bunch.

Last week my batallion conducted a cordon and search at a small farming village just outside Taji. We found rpg's, mortar tubes and shells. Our fing General chose not to arrest the owner of this stuff. Then, we set a check point at a bridge in the village and we were there for a week.

The first day we got sniped at, but whoever sniped at us was really a poor shot. I guess he gave up and decided to shoot mortars at us. Again he was a very bad shot. He would start first thing in the morning and continue to mortar us until sunset. We could never get him because he would fire 4 or 5 rounds at us, then move and an hour later fire at us then move and so on.

Each day the rounds impacted a little closer until by the 3rd day the rounds were within 200 meters of us.

The 4th day my company went back to Camp Cooke and we returned to the village early on the 5th day. This time I brought my baseball glove. We could hear the reports of the mortars as it left the tube, which gave us a couple seconds to seek cover before the rounds impacted. Well, whenever I heard the reports, I would lift my glove up like I am catching a high fly. I am pretty sure I pissed off the spotter because by the end of the 5th day the rounds landed in the water, midpoint of the bridge.

The 6th day was the same. But near evening a round hit the riverbank nearest to the village and 2 children were hit. We got em medevacked and well, that pretty much took the fun out of it all.

Our General decided to arrest the owner of the rpg's and on the 7th day there were no mortar attacks. Fuchin A man.

Oh yeah Shot and Ydnar, I took a servey and it looks like Oatmeal Raisin cookies are the winner.

OK. Talk to yall later.

Sounds like the Army is behaving with their usual efficiency.
Candy is coming, courtesy of HH who had to fill out a novel's worth of forms on line in order to send it. To me, no less, so that I can send it on to you all. Three football games are taped, if you or anyone else have team preferences, let me know. The 49ers and the Dolphins are redefining 'pathetic' this year. If you or anyone else want me to tape some basketball, or anything else, let me know.
Copy oatmeal raisin cookies. You'll now probably get so many you won't know what to do with them.
Stuff will be on the way by the end of this week or beginning of next.
Stay low.
