Hey guys, I know this is probably not a new issue, but I just got my original SB CD and I cannot get it to work on my new laptop which runs XP. What can I do to fix this problem,
Thanks
Ric

Duke66Golf, welcome to the club, i have seen one laptop run xp and sb and its not pretty, it won't host a multi-player game and tends drop when in mp when someone other then you is hosting before the new service pack was installed the joystick wouldn't work consistently and even after being calibrated using shift-j it would fail within a few minutes, the service pack works except the shift-j trick still has to be used every time sb is started. Service pack seems to have only partially solved only the joystick issue the others still persist, perhaps the video ram is to blame?

What exactly do you mean by not working, nothing at all, no boot when clinking the c:\program files\esimgames\steelbeasts gold\release\ "tanksim.exe"-file?

You can also log on to teamspeak and someone can walk you through it no problem.

For those who know more about this than i include the version of sb and xp, the make and model of your laptop and the processor, video ram and ram capabilities so someone can get you gunning asap.

Good Luck-Jim

You may need to disable the Windows "Firewall" (which actually is a port filter, but hey...), or at least open the ports that Steel Beasts needs to connect with other machines.

If you have upgraded to Service Pack 2, the firewall will actually ask you whether SB should be authorized to connect to the internet when you have an online or LAN connection running, and start to set up a multiplayer game. The only problem then is that SB1 works exclusively in fullscreen mode, so you may not get to see the dialog box.
