You all probably heard this before, but I'm browsing through the forum looking for sb2 info and can barely find any. Specifically screenshots and a date when it's due out since I have been waiting since the release of steel beasts the original..please HURRY ! lol. Thanks in advance. P.S. Is there still a chat room or did it go bye bye ?

Have a great day.

Ok found very minimal info except a release date of late 2005, I hope after almost 5 years the graphics are amazing because I seen 1 screenshot last year that scared me half to death (in other words it was bad).

Still a chat room. But from what i understand Team Speak is what they are all using now. To download go to Teamspeak.org . I think thats the sight .

As for SB2 no not out yet. However i understand a kinda beta version called SB Pro PE is due out soon. For any questions look in FAQ. I believe there are some screen shots at ESim games.com .

Hope i was a bit helpful

Well, I think that we may want to give links to the screenshots a slightly more prominent place, e.g. the starting place, as well as release news. While the navigation bar thingy is really cool, some people don't realize the power behind it.

it's not a beta, it's a continous development after relese!

That's absolutely right. SB Pro PE is no beta state software. We have had continuous quality control ever since the release of SB Gold when we started working on the new engine, and it never has been flakey. The code is stable and mature.

and SB stable is STABLE, as in no crashing at all. several big bang released titles are far less stable than steel beast pro was in half finished state.. in fact, i might try to go for a steel beasts pro marathon, seeing how long it runs before crash. hmmm. you'd not see me in several days for sure.

the current gaming scene has been sadly riddled with unstable games, that you can only play for 1 or 2 hours before restart is an absolute neccesity.

I've crashed less than 10 times over the past 3 years, running SB on 98SE.

Considering that's over 1000 hours of play, and less than 10 crashes, that comes out to over 100 hours between crashes...which is over 4 days.

That often?
Hm.

Well, always hard to see what the reason could be, given the variety of software running in the background.

Well, the driver combinations and software running on my PC isn't the most stable in the world.

Scud, dunno what Direct X version you're running with your W98se OC, but I was for a long time, running DX 8, with my W98se, and when I got the new LCD screen, I had Ray (after he explained to me what DX does) install DX9c in it (old PC W98se) and the system is running faster and smoother, in all aspects.. FYI.

I've crashed SB a few times in a few weeks, BUT I think it was caused by a variety of other things... It's still probably the most stable game I've played, especially with multiple other programs running...

I do appologize .My mistake.I just want to blow stuff up.And see body parts laying on the battle fields.

Can you imagine the fun of seeing a human head lodged between road wheels.Or a body hanging from the underside of a tank.

 I can arrange that for ya anytime ya want to join me in MP, "less the screams of these/your poor souls" (cause of your hearing impairment) dying from my guns HE, coax, and of course, just running you and your grunts down, trying to run from my tanks..

Sooner, the better, for me.. LOL

i'd suggest a virus scan. the only time steel beasts 1 was unstable, was when a virus had infected the .exe file.

another possibility is that you've got a version which requires a CD to play.
this is the publishers that have messed up the code.

He was also running Doom 3, Halo 2 and EverQuest 2 in separate windows, while formatting his D drive. ;)

I have played one scenario over 5 days and left the game on the computer while I used other software, it worked for me.

Yeah, I was running Yahoo and AIM messengers on away mode, AOL to connect to the internet, TeamSpeak, and all the garbage that Windows likes to start itself in the task bar... I've figured out that if I close everything in the taskbar and close up AIM and Yahoo, I can run for HOURS and HOURS, and often when I'm done in MP after everyone else is safe and warm in their beds, I'll minimize the SB window and come back later in the morning after some sleep and jam away in SP with no problems.

It's a stable game, but I have a very unstable computer...
