Hiya,

I happened to come across this site when surfing, and as an old tanker I obviously became interested.
Well, I found an old copy of the game and installed it.

Problems: When doing the first training the game doesn't recognise the joystick. I can only aim the main gun with the mouse. And yeah... the game came without a manual.

Help!!!

Welcome aboard SgtS..

hmmm, sounds like maybe either you need to make sure your joystick is #1 in your joystick program/settings.. and try hitting the J key and the Shift key at the same time when game begins.. this sync's your stick with the game.

Somewhere in here, is a keyboard layout, etc.. Try FAQ under +Games in upper left column, clk on the + and then on FAQ and look..

How do I get my joystick to work in Steel Beasts?

For Windows 95/98/ME: The joystick must be assigned to ID #1 in the Windows Game Controllers app., which you can find in the Windows Control Panel.

For Windows XP: you must open the Gaming Options app., which you can find in the Windows Control Panel. In the Game Controller tab, click on Advanced and set your joystick as the preferred device to use with older programs.

Well, try working with the auxiliary sights for starters. Maybe that helps a bit. ;)
