Hi,
did anyone notice that IFV like Marder and BMP are firing short very often with their auto cannon as soon as there is a bump in front of their target. If both the firing vehicle and the target are not moving they keep firing until their ammo runs out- every round in the same spot into the ground...

This is one thing IŽd like to have fixed in SB 2
Either adjust aim, or change positions to reengage.

The other thing is coax MG bursts. Although these have already improved through several patches iŽd like them to be longer more like spraying the target left to right or so... After all a machinegun is not a sniper rifle and with the tracer looking much better in SB 2 it would be quite a thing to watch a platoon engaging some infantry...

Ref. the coax and spraying the tgt. In my practice and opinion the coax provides a long cone of fire, and unless there's a concentration of Inf. at a spacific location then the ranging burst and killing burst work best. Spraying the tgt does not provide enough rds on tgt to be effective to kill a squad at any more than 300-400mtrs, and is a waste of ammo. Laze - range - kill. It's an area wpn, after 800mtrs your just aiming that cone of rds anyways. You lose the tracers after 1200-1400mtrs and U can't see the splash much futher than that.
Would be nice to have the 50cal. as a coax............. but lets not go there.

Any less than a target hit or less than 25 rds(5 Tracers) is not a killing burst. But in real life the grunts arent gona sit still or stand up for you to kill them, the coax is only a suppresive fire and recon by fire weapon. In my years as a gunner i always used a Z pattern on troops, lase at the base, dump your lead and make a Z through the target area, it uses a lot of ammo but almost assures a troop will get a chunk of lead in him.

Ok, I agree with you for the LEO, M1 and every vehicle with a range finder...
But Marder and BMP do not have one. And for the coax as a area effect weapon- at the armor school marder crews are taught not to fire bursts of less than fifty rounds and "walk" them into the target.

over 800- 1000m you no longer use the coax but 20mm HE

Talked to a Marder gunner a couple of time ago, he said the crappy MG feeding mechanism of the Marder is prone to jamming when firing short bursts, so they where instructed to walk through all known targets with a couple of long bursts, or when targets are close to each other, just go cyclic and walk through them all one by one.
Seems to be related to the long way up the ammo has to go from ammobox in turretcage to weapon.

The low aiming is on the list of improvements for SB2. Just FYI...
