What are some good offline scenarios that I can play to get some practice in for company sized unit management?

The AFK recommends Are They Attacking Here (moderate) and A Village Called Netreba (nightmarishly hard).
Suez, under Single Player M1, might be worth a look too.

Thanks, I'll give them a try....

I recommend Battalion Defense. It's most certainly not a company-sized action, which would make it easier by leaps and bounds to handle a mere company. Plus, I really, really like BD.

I would recomend that you DL one of the scenarios from Ronner.net by LEAF56, Wheeldog(johnny), Alpha Sierra, or the others. Its often wellmade, intense scenario wich forces you to be alert and do alot of thinking to win. Send one of them a PM and tell em what you're looking for, and i bet thay could come up whit it, cuz they have a truckload good of sce's, "un-known" for the rest of the world ;)

A number of the larger co-ops that came with the game are very good as well. See the Deliberate Offense and Deliberate Defense series....or if you are really feeling good, try the original Fulda Gap series by Volcano.

People are still playing that? Good God, seems like a decade ago I wrote it. My proudest moment was when a real M1 Commander said he found it a challenge. 8)
I liked Netreba too, its a cast iron bitch to win it, but its a real buzz when do.

You know, I'm not sure I'd ever played it before this week - but I pulled it up to play as a co-op with Sean, and it was good. "Tough but fair" would be a decent description. :)

Are you two speaking of Suez?
I can not seem to find that anyplace under SP downloads or on the original scenarios that came with the game. Can you post it again?

It should be under Single-Player M1; at least, it was with my Gold install.
There's about a 70% chance I'll remember to post it tonight. :)

As Hellhound says, its on the gold install. I probably dont actually have it anymore anyway. Well unless you count the updated version, but I dont think you have a steel beasts you can play that on yet.
Just curious, does anyone still play the team yankee series?

I bought the regular version and patched up. Guess that is why I do not have it. All the sces came in the Action Folder.
I played the Team Yankee series while reading the book about 6 months again. Lots of fun. Read a few chapters and a battle...go play the battle and then read some more!

Another question.... why does the game sometimes make you download the scenario from the host even though you have the scenario already? Im talking about the default scenarios.

May be changed by the user but still have same name...

If the scenario is NOT in the "Downloads" folder , SB is downloading it from the host .
Myself , I did copy/paste ALL scenarios into the "downloads" folder , this way I don 't usually have to download a known scenario ...
Cheers . :3starSK:

Tried to post this this morning, but got a server error:
For another decent company fight, load up WWIII Fulda Gap and just use the northern group (is it A company? I think it's A company).
The screams of your southern comrades are distracting for the first little bit, but then they quiet down.

Are They Attacking Here: Won
A Village Called Netreba: Where is the "Launch Tacitcal Nuke" button?
Battalion Defense: Too many units for me....
Ronner.net: Didn't see any scenario available when I looked in the download section.
Fulda Gap: I think I played that one in a co-op once.
Suez: Will try that one next.
BW, thanks for that tip.

Behold, Suez:
http://www.steelbeasts.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=NewDownloadsDate&selectdate=1112757594
My description, written in haste, is a poor one; I should have said that an American company attacks positions held by about three companies of soviet equipment, and that it's suitable for co-op play with 2-4 guys, or solo play by one guy riding a heavy wave of caffeine.
