I just read in the FAQ that, to have a French voice for SB2/Pro, you would need at least a 6 poeple team. So if you are interrested, I could help you in playing french voices. 8) Just to find 5 other poeple for that langage but i dont think it will be hard.
what do you think about?

Find the other five, and contact me. I'll be out of office until May 23rd, though.

The goal is to be comprehensible! but if you can cuss, should be enough...
but SB 2Pro would have to be forbidden to -16year
so Ssnake, we are under your orders!

Don't all Frenchmen sound like that ?
ShotMagnet

No, they all sound like BW, who sounds remarkably like Jacques Cousteau.
Reiterating my irrational desire to lend my voice, I'll throw in a line, any line. I can read French and I can do a passable interpolation of what I'm reading, even if I don't know what I've just said.

the goal is at least to have a french accent...
Imagine me lending my voice in german...
i can speak some word like "ich bin ein berliner..." but my accent is really bad...so include it in SB2/Pro would be the worse choice.
anyway, its SB team who decides. If they want i speak german, i agree.
and for those who want to do the french voice, just know there is a test:
you have to eat both a typical french stinking cheese and frog thigh.
If you success that, you will be allow to do the french voice.

Interresting... number of Volunteer is slowly incresing...
so Ssnake, whats the next step? Do we have to buy a 1$ microphone?
BlackDeath
05-24-2005, 08:09 AM
so volunteers for french voices are:
-Bluewings
-BipBip
-Me
-At least 1 of my brothers
-Someone else...
So we are enough.

i dont know what say in french tanks...
what would we do? translate exactly what crew say in foreign tanks?
would we be allow to say something like that:
"Merde, on a été touché!"
or "Tu l'as eu dans le cul!"
or "Cannonier, Obus perforrant (je sais pas comment ils l'appelle ici), brouette chenillée!"
or other nice french expression like that?

Volcano will send the leader of your team instructions (basically, an Excel file with all the phrases that need to be recorded). We seriously recommend not to use "cool phrases" and cursing. Not because we're shy, but simply because these phrases will be repeated often, and anything beyond the pure battle relevant reports will soon sound annoying and repetitive.
Special attention must be paid to the grammar! The goal is to synthetize simple and complex radio and crew reports by combining message fragments. These fragments are supposed to be stitched together on the fly, so both the vocal melody of the sentence should be preserved where possible as well as the seams be minimized to give the impression of a fluidly spoken, naturally sounding voice.
English and German are at least of the same origin and therefore somewhat comparable - still I found a number of cases where, for example, some phrases required deliberately slurry speech to make the grammar work, and in some cases things simply couldn't be made to fit 1 on 1. French as a romanic language may even be harder to make fit here, I guess. That's the art of good translation - to find equivalents that will work with as few deviations as possible, but still remain faithful to the phrases that are being used in the French armée de terre.

so we have to vote for a leader, then reflect on what you said and wait for the file!

I nominate you, BD. I'd like to be the loader. Should be simple to say 'loaded' clearly in French.

No , it 's "Obus Fleche" .
Being already in SB Pro/2 Team , I will contact Volcano and get exactly what we need to know/do .
We need five (5) French voices . So far we only have 4 :
- BlackDeath
- BipBip
- BlackDeath 's brother (If he 's old enough as we do not want "baby voice")
- Myself .
I am going to try to get Froggy onboard as he is the Man who knows all command phrases .
Cheers . :3starSK:

Yes, this is very important. However, whomever records the messages there are a set of "explicitives" for the TC to say for a total screw up -and it is up to the person to figure out what to say. But do not get too vulgar with it.
