http://www.militaertechnik-der-nva.de/Aservatenkammer/Aservatenkammer.html check "Beschussversuche Teil 1-3" here you find the original with (unfortunately only German) comments about rounds being used and what effect they made.

And for our Swedish friends: look at "Exportschlager für Schweden" ;)

Yes, the MT-LB (Swe: Pbv 401) and MT-LBU are still going strong in different support missions as medic, repair, CP and so.

The BMP-1 however have been "modernized" and then stored.

Who do you mean, me? No, you're wrong, I am not, but once upon a time I served in the named army, actually in the airforce.

just a question, if there is no ammunition to burn in the tank, does the turret pop up? (or does a guy push a the red edject button?)

the turret shouldn't pop when there's no ammo inside

that i thougt...
but whithout ammunition, its not a tank, its a bunker...
hard choice.

You won't kill anything with a moving bunker, so the choice can't be that hard :)

You can put in the ammo but take away the turret.

You won't kill anything with a moving bunker, so the choice can't be that hard
but at least, you have a chance to not be killed.
you still can crush troops, cars and light armored, and even try to kill tanks gun by hitting them with your own turret (thats a bit hazardous...)
