New target on ridge..Newbie.

Hi guys ,just found this cool game on the net and downloaded the 1.14 demo for it.Man talk about fun.Don,t hold it against me but I,m usually in the skies online flying EAW(European Air War) and have also got CFS1 ,Rowans BoB,Gunship and Fighting Steel on my HD.Have also got Panzer Front on PS1 that I love to thrash.Been into A/C and armour ever since I was a kid and never grew out of it(I am now 34).Work as a welder in a factory churning out 40 foot semi trailers.Did my trade as a A/C sheetmetal worker at QANTAS but that was a long time ago.Live in sunny Queensland,Auss in a city called Toowoomba(not so sunny sometimes).Have 3 kids.One daughter that I haven,t seen for 6 years(now 10),and my fiance has 2 teenage boys,one living with us and another living with grandma up north.(fun).Anyway where do I start with this cool game and what mods,updates do I need to have a brilliant thrash with.I am warming up Flashget in anticipation..Anyway thanks for listening to the ramblings of half mad pilot(must be an O2 leak).And thanks for letting me in..

welcome. there are no mods for SB (you can only change textures, skins, so you can have winter SB etc). when you get the full game you may need to patch it. you don't need to patch it if you buy the gold edition, that one is already patched. if you buy the normal edition, then you need to patch it. read the Anti frustration kit here http://www.steelbeasts.com/modules/Downloads/store_folder/Tutorials/AFK.pdf, there are links to the patches.

Thanx for the greetings guys....Have TS2 already as I use it sometimes to yell out when I get shot down(again) in EAW.Bailing out of a tank seems a bit more relaxed then diving out of a spinning spitfire at 20,000ft with a wing blown off.Will see you guys in chat soon,looking forward to the first person to tape the bullseye on the back of my tank!!!(IFF Panel??).Can you still get SB at stores or do I have to checkout ebay?..

I was surprised to find a copy at a retail store just a few weeks ago but chances are you will need to make your purchase from Ebay, it shouldn’t be hard finding it there. I believe most if not all online stores have sold-out some time ago. Steel Beasts Gold, a simulation released in 2002, is the most recent edition, and should, due to its comparably more current and comprehensive scenario¹ package, be considered above earlier iterations simply titled Steel Beasts.


¹the scenarios selected for the gold package, were as I understand it, largely or in whole from scenarios downloadable from this website. See Resources>>Downloads from the menu on the left column of the screen or visit the SB Scenario/Mod Discussion forum.
