Ok, sorry to sound demanding or pushy, but maybe a preview video, or a progress report would be help us understand. When we got ready for the release of SBPro in Nov. and then found out that it would be delayed we (I) figured a couple of weeks, maybe a month. Now i am even starting to wonder if even this year. Like I said I dont mean to sound pushy, but I feel maybe there is no progress being made. After almost 7 months are you still at the same place as you were in Dec. are you running into more complications, are you making progress? just really wondering and frustrated. By the time the game comes out will the U.S. even be using tanks any more?

...
I have to agree here, having been around since 2000, and "hearing and reading" that SB2 was just around the corner..
And now, as with SB Pro PE, the corner seems endless, and we, the SB faithfull, have seen only very limited videos of Pro PE..
IMHO, the SB staff, should release some "small action" clips of all units, old, and new, so we can at least drool with some "hunger".. as opposed to just holding on with blind faith (from the year 2000, to date).. with mostly still pics, which start to appear and feel like black and white pictures of old, as opposed to color pics thru "advacements, and the future-to-come"
And, to add to this, I have seen the MIA of the old SB Guard grow over the last 2 years.. GS McAmis, Hackworth, Caveman, JTO, Lonny007, Archangel, Buff, Poker, Joe, and others, just recently, just to name a "few", and it makes me wonder why??? Could it be life just moving on, or maybe some, or all, are part of the SB Pro PE beta team legally, or illegally, and are "enjoying" it, as I could imagine it must be, and have no "desire" to return to the old, and excuse me for saying this, but the old, outdated, SB1, which, I'm sure, has lost its charm when compared to the new graphics, unit-manned-abilitys, and improvements, of the SB Pro PE units/sim.
And before I hear the "excuse" that it takes-up "valuable time".. I would submit that this could, and should, be done in the 10 mins it would take, if that, for each unit that Pro PE has in it, to-date.. IMHO

That has to be exhausting, thanks so much, I’m really looking forward to it.

eSim Games has long had a low public relations discloser, high public relations interaction policy, and I thank them for the latter. I’ve never seen a game developer so actively or thoroughly pursue a helpful relationship with their fan base. However, I think it’s unfortunate for hobbyists and the developers that the lessons that seemed learned from release dates slipping, has been, what appears to be, the further hardening of eSim’s limited discloser policy.

Well, the situation is this - we had to put the development of SB Pro PE on hold for about three months. We received an urgent request from an Army (details be told after successful delivery) where it's mandatory to deliver before some time this summer. The job pays well, and that's a factor we can't afford to ignore. The good news is, it will bring a number of playable and unique vehicles to the initial release of SB Pro PE, more variety in buildings and plants, so overall it's probably worth the wait.
It also seems like Al wants to add a bit more eye candy (shadows probably, and better special effects animations) and eventually an overhauled user interface. This is going to cost another eight weeks - a factor that I didn't consider last autumn when promising a speedy release after Christmas. At that time, it seemed to be a reasonable time frame, but we're working in a rather dynamic business environment.
So, we addressed the bugs that the beta testers found in the multiplayer department, improved the damage model statistics (one of the most influential factors that made us bust the promised release date in 2004), and improved other minor issues.
Al has now made me promise to delay all other inquiries for customizations until we're done with SB Pro PE. That's a clear violation of my prime directive as a salesman, but I promised to be good. ;)
I apologize that I had to keep you in the dark during the last weeks. I can but assure you that the entire team is breaking is backs to get SB Pro PE done as soon as humanly possible. We, too, are learning as we go as far as promises and predictions about project times are concerned. I certainly have learned my lessons from the disasters of past release announcements.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to comment on follow-up questions for the next two weeks. I'll be out of office most of the time in June.

Your comments make my own appear diminished. What “limited discloser policy” exists when doubt is answered with the announcement of new features. Thank you for the update.
If business affairs permitted, this level of consistent substance would eliminate any future skepticism by satisfying that lingering doubt, in full, with its presence.
We received an urgent request from an Army… it will bring a number of playable and unique vehicles to the initial release of SB Pro PE.
At least one new “playable” vehicle, fully crewable in the manner of a tank or not, is really good news. Controlling the behavior of a wide variety of vehicles has always been the domain of wargames in which case the purpose was never the simulation of a particular unit without the close assistance of the AI (Artificial Intelligence). I can’t imagine there ever having been a sim that’s come close to what SB Pro PE is attempting. Each crewable tank will be a distinct simulation of its own. With SB Pro PE the battlefield is going to feel alive, it’s going to be amazing.
We received an urgent request from an Army.
The second post that I cited above (May 27, 2005 - 09:44 PM GMT) from the It’s Official thread reads entirely differently now. I can see that the “suppliers/service companies” was of a more specific nature when I misunderstood its meaning to be broad and generalized.
The entire team is breaking is backs to get SB Pro PE done as soon as humanly possible.
It has to be frustrating for the team if the end point is nebulous and not quite reachable. While it must be satisfying to create something the long hours have to be taxing, but it’s going to be an industry redefining simulation of warfare on land and I hope that’s reassuring.

I hope for release not before late autumn, and if the final release date still is attached to the year 2005 and the sim shows up to be a winner (in quality), then it is okay.
just curious, though, I certainly do not track all rumours and release news that are floating around. Environmental shadows have been added, I learned, fine, but any changes concerning changing daylight conditons (day-night-cycle), and or weather effects? Could we hope for them in the release version, or not before a later addon?

Doesnt the Brit tanks has a hot water boiler for their tea?
Yep - tea is very important!

So does all our armor vehicle, it's a must if it's cold and wet. You always have hot water and ability to make hot food inside the vehicle, otherwise we would die...
