Tension rising
Sabots flying

Pop the hatch
Hoping to catch
Sight on the bastard
looking for me

What the hell
Always happen to me
Can't see past
this freakin tree

Turbine whining
Armor dying

Button the hatch
Hoping to catch
Sight on the bastard
shooting at me

Holy crap
This can't be
Can't see past
it's another tree

***
I hate the trees in SB. I even hate the bushes. I wish we were able to blow the crap out of them with cannon fire. Heck, I would even be satisfied if they were able to catch fire so I could watch them burn. Yes, I know you can run them over but dont get me started on that. Damn freakin trees.... grumble... grumble...

Hide in the woods, back over them, clear a firing lane, then wait in ambush. Trees are your freind.

Firstly, awesome advice.

Secondly, trees ARE your friends. It would be rather difficult to engage enemy tanks without being able to breath because there is no oxygen because Homer killed all the trees! BAD HOMER!!! BAD!!!

Trees may be your friends but they seem to have developed a dislike towards me. In one game, I ran over a shrub and I threw a track.

Is that the secret? backing up over a tree rather than driving forward over them? It seems that when I deliberately mow down a tree, more often than not, it returns the favor by taking out part of the sighting system.

One funny item, Ive actually caught myself physically ducking lower to try to see under a tree.

As I've tried to tell you before, the ones with three metal prongs on them aren't shrubs.

LOL, no, the secret is in the sce. designers damage %'s he puts into each individual sce.. some have alot.. like when I'm going at engage speed and run over just some shrub, and I hear the TC grown, and he's disabled, and your/I'm scratching my head thinking.. WTF!?

Speed is a key too, as you probably know.. thick trees.. slow speed, medium thinkness.. engage speed, light trees.. you can personally drive them at assult speeds, but one thing is to, if you have too, is run them over dead center with the tank..

But again, the real issue is how much damage % (percentage) involving the trees, or shrubs, etc., is put into a sce.. as there are many out there, that one can hit trees (correctly and with appropriate speed) and do it thru the entire game with no damage to any of your tanks.. (low % of damage in scenario).

Not being a sce designer, I think what I have said is close to being right.. I hope.. lol

Oh really?!!? So the source of my torment can be attributed directly to a human and not to some embedded random algorithm. So... who designs these missions and by chance you wouldnt happen to know where they live.....

hehe joking. Good info... thanks

I still hate tree and their little friends, the bushes.

...

 Yea, we'll send Battledog over with a message for them.. LMAO

But, if you go into Mission Editor, and pull up any sce, you have, whether from SP mode, or Downloads, and it has not be coded/locked by the designer, you can go into any sce, and change the damage %, along with ammo, etc.. and make them how ya like them.. and before ya save it, ya might want to change the title, or briefing, to reflect what you did, kinda like your own code, to remember by, in case someone wants it from ya..

I've done this to a few SP ones, from my "downloads" file, that I use for practice..

The secret is to man the tanks in the woods.. Set 7 tanks on AI route through a forrest and you'll lose a track on two of em, and TIS on two more if your un-lucky...if ya wanna go into a forrest to stir things up and kill some stuff, then do it whit one tank at a time. Drive this singel tank manualy... Drive it between the trees (full speed is no problem if you are fast on the keyboard), not over them.. Drive it 50-100 meters then stop and turn of your engine and listen for the enemy..if you cant hear him, drive another 50-100 m and repeat the procedure.. if ya do hear him, do not drive directly towards him, but try to get in his flank (watch out for possible enemy close support inf).. not any big fancy movments, just 25 meters or so in his flank.. Do not be in F6 mode, cuz you wont see anything anyway. Always be in F8 mode.. look around you 360 all the time to spot anamy targets close.

When you do see a target and get a kill, make sure that you get out of there fast, before he manage to get a ICM call and his own inf in there.
The trick i try to use in this case every once in a while, is that i move maby 100 meters or so forward, and turn of my engine to listen for tanks enemy tanks that he sends in the area to look you up, and when you hear him closing in, you start your engine and work your self in to a position where you can chase him and get him from behind.. that can be pretty effective if you give it some practise

If you come across enemy inf, Speed-Fire-Smoke.. quick! .. Dosent matter if you move forward or backwards, as long as you dont stay and figh, cuz in 8 times out of 10 you will get killed if you do.
If you decides to go backwards, make sure to call in a HE strike, and move forward again in another area, and under the "sound cover" of the HE strike.

If you come across a plt of enemy PC in the woods, do not spend time looking up all 4 of them, cuz in the time it takes you to look for all of them, he will have pin-pointed your position and have a tank otw to get you.. Just kill 2 or 3 of his PC's then get the heck out of there. (or use the trick i mentioned above if you feel lucky that day)

Do not push your luck. Dont expect to kill a enemy company whit your single tank. Just get in there and kill whatever you come across for a short while, and then turn back to safe ground. Never turn of your engine and leave your tank to AI in enemy held woods, cuz it will get killed.

The ultimate sullution is when you can combine all this whit recon inf, HMMWV's and good arty support, but thats over course ;)

Good Luck! :)

Trees are still my friends..

But in the case of WB, I think the score todate is WB 10 kills vs :? LS 1 kill
I'm also trying, real hard, to remember the 2nd kill I got on WB, but I can't..

Them Euro's are right at home when it comes to trees..

Freakin tree huggers....

I do try that listening trick but I usually cant find him. I'll even rotate the view in F8 like a direction finder for the source of the sound but still cant find or see anything.

Scud says his trick is to turn F8 Virtual or F7 TC open hatch mode, and using direction until the noise is at 90 degree's, then note direction, and move that way for the hunt.. He's damn good in them trees as well..
