Is there any way to designate a particular target to the gunner while you are in the TC hatch (Leo) with your bino’s? I know that Shift+ arrows will slew the turret, but the gunner will pick up the first target he sees. In the case of three tanks travelling together, can you designate which of the three you want hit?

Nope.

The one achilles of the Leo is you can't slew the gun onto target from that position. You can still SHIFT+LASE the target to tell everyone "over there, stupid!" but the gunner won't automatically engage. If you don't want to do it yourself by dropping into the gunner's seat, a half-assed way of doing it is to use the 'scan thisa way' and hope the gunner spots the target when he pans in that direction.

What I do in this case is, I order the gunner scan front, and then swivel the entire tank to the target I want him to shoot. Well, when the situation permits turning the tank, that is ;)
When hydraulics are out, and swivelling would take up a lot of time, I just turn the tank one "big turret".

One of the drawbacks of a computer simulation. Normally you would talk to the gunner: "By that red cabin two o'clock, 1000 metres away, see it? A little more left". The crew working as a whole is a very important part of tank crews training.

Circumvent it by having a human buddy in the gunner's seat when playing MP...
