Nice gesture wdboyd! I have already copied over Sean's Texas flag or I'd take you up :) One thing though (and I'm not picking on your Sergei ;) ), The USSR's flag DOESN'T WAVE ANYMORE... Not in any meaningful sense ;) Your flag looks real good though nonetheless, hehe.

You're right only in official term
But more than 60 % of population of Russia are waving this flag.
This is perfect flag, not as others from Carnaval :P
Too many stars, too many stripes are real circus ;)

As far as I know, there is real meaning behind those Stars and Stripes, friend. I'm not sure we can say the same of a sickle and hammer. Check your headgear Sergei.

Buff.

You know real meaning of stars and stripes? :D
And why you were thinking about USA's flag? :D
Sorry, it was provocation :exclam:
But don't worry and be happy under your flag ;)

What is headgear? :casstet:

there's acutally a meaning both to stars and stripes, and hammer and sickle..

the stars reference the 52-54 states in usa. don't remember the stripes.
the hammer represents the worker, while the sickle represents the farmer, working together to form a united soviet.. or something like that.
norway has a silly cross. with white and blue. no real meaning.

The hammer and sickle represent the tools of a lower-class worker, the folks the USSR's founders intended it to champion.

They also look right cool.

I know there's a star for each state in the Union...remind me what the stripes are for?

Wasn't the Norwegian cross brought in when the king converted to christianity?

Canada narrowly avoided having a green maple leaf on the white field, or even three green maple leaves. They kept the white as a "purity" color and changed the leaf to red to symbolize blood spilled in war.

Some Canadians still fly the red ensign, too...

Well Sergei, that depends on the year of ones graduation.. todays students don't gave a clue to History..

But the 13 stripes on our flag represent the first 13 original colonies or states (I can't recall which it was) when the Declaration of Independence was signed..

*for the record.. at the time of the signing, there where only 12 colonies a/o states, as the 13th (and I'd have to look it up i.e. which one it was) had not be ratified by Congress or Reconized, by the founding fathers at the time of the signing.. FYI

The US flag is a Proud and Noble flag that is honored by us Sergei. Just as any country would honor their flag. It's lineage is strong and the image of it evokes strong emotions, especially when we have so many friends and family members over sea's.

I take pride in it.

So I am asking you as a friend.

Will you please stand down from the critisism if it?

Thank you sir.

Oh, leave him be. He's just venting. If you had to live there you'd be pissed too.

Um, 50 states = 50 stars. 13 Red and White Stripes = 13 original colonies.

And your sickle and hammer of the working class... Didn't your sickle and hammer boys destroy about 100 million of your own population during its rule of your nation? And i fyou will check your history, no other flag was allowed to fly when those sickle and hammer boys had their way. Now at least, you can fly any flag you wish it seems in Russia. Good for you. Now, you might want to remind your communist citizens they didn't have a choice but to wave the Red Blooded flag of communist USSR 15 years ago.

And if you want to jab any further, email me: ericdbates@sbcglobal.net I might be able to teach you a little something about Communist rule over your country.

Headgear: Helmet, hat, cover, kevlar, CVC (combat vehicluar communications - US version of "helmet for tankers" :) )... He meant: "check your head." Probably for mental illness.

I like the way you think Hack - that was an excellent post.

Why is it that people only seem to remember the good and so quickly forget the bad?

[i] I think I see a reptile with a lock and keys heading this way, heheheh

How can a simple post with the good will of offering flags to us (not to be confused with the the USA) turn in to this? Grab a beer guys, relax....

Excellent - just what this thread needed was an eruption of vitriol.

Thanks, guys.

I am really astonished that four days after my first and final warning you're still busy with tit for tat and retaliation. WDBOYD, I'm sorry. Try it with a new thread, maybe people can THEN stay away from pointless picking on what's precious for others. :casstet:
