Has anyone checked out the visitors meter recently?

Maybe it just me but I think its been increasing steadily every day since SSnake announced that the sim would be out before Christmas.

I hope we get more and more publicity for SB PE and I hope the visitors join up as formal recruits.

I just read this, and again, with 6 members, 23 guest online as I type, the forums are in the Slow-Blue mode again.. This really sucks, as it takes soooooooo long to just switch threads, or even longer to post and edit, etc..

 How about taking the incoming pre-order money and sending it (investing in SB) to Sean for a new Server that can handle, minimum, 10 times the traffic (minimum) that we have been seeing for the last month, and are seeing as I type? Along with possibly for MP use as well?

My wifes' brother is Vice President of IBM, and my buddy from Texas was telling me that IBM just came out with a new Server that can handle billions of input per second..

I've never asked Graig for a favor, but Graig and his wife have asked, and recieved, many favors from the wife and I.

I'd be willling to pursue asking him for a big-break on an IBM server if you're interested in "coming up to speed" with our growing community demands on the present, overloaded, SB server we have now, along with increasing demands with the release of Pro within the next month..

Let me know, it's worth a try IMO

Thanks for this generous offer, but the hardware costs arent the big roadblock to getting a faster site. Even with such a nice machine, co location costs were pretty high last time I checked. I'll look around to see if the prices have come down, then check back later.

Maybe now is a great time to start selling adds on the Website. Janes.com or any close rival will do. US/GERMAN/UK/SWEDISH/Country that uses SB to train Army will find your very popular website a great place to sell adds for Recruiting. Alienware, or ATI or any Hi-End gaming equipment manufacturer will also find they have a captive and willing to buy audience here at www.steelbeasts.com.

Quickly, I think Sean needs a (pay)raise.

I want at least one ad-free site on the web that's part of my daily tour. At least one oasis in a desert of banner ads and java script pop-ups and -unders.

You already have it! www.esimgames.com. Besides, don't you want to pay for Sean's Christmas Bonus?

It's now taking a very unusual amount of time to log on to Steel Beasts and then move between forums and threads. The same thing occurs when in the screenshot gallery. This is the only web sight on the net where I can't load a page in a second or two. Can anything be done about this?

Easy, get Mozilla Firefox. And turn off Java and Java Script on it.

Okay, I have Steel Beasts pages loading pretty fast now. To do it I had to allow Java Scripts but disabled everything exept changing images. I also had to disable loading of images not on the orginating server. This means that images from outside Steel Beasts will not load. Zooms right along now. Well it was at least a fix for the slow loading. The real test will come when lots of people are visiting.

Hey Sean, what did you do to get the site to be so fast?

We are back to about 56K or less download speed again and I'm sitting on a 4.5 meg pipeline.

Yep. Working on it.
