View Full Version : Proper use of GAS?

In the manual it says I should line up my target with the top and bottom stadia lines. The problem is that if I line up the bottom horizontal line with the small line(s) underneath the number, then the range is inaccurate. However, if I line up the DOTS with the bottom horizontal line, the range is perfect. What's the story here?

The lines are used to measure range when the target is in full profile measured from the bottom of the tracks to the top of the turret. The dots are used to measure the range when the target is facing you and is hull down with the turret showing.

proper use of GAS is not to lose your fire-solutuion computer.

Nonsense. How can you call yourself a tanker if you don't know WWII-style gunning? LRF's and Ballistic computers are a luxory to be used only AFTER one has a moderate or better experience with the GAS. It's just more satisfying getting kills this way, and it's more satisfying using normal mode when you know that if the LRF and BC go down, you're not a sitting duck.
So far I'm at 53% accuracy on tank range. More practice. :D

the gas in SB is not like the real one at least on the m1 anyway i can hit targets good ways off with an actual m1 but as far as sb goes cobra has a point haha

I've hit targets at 10,000m with the GAS. (OK, the scenario is rigged, but it was still cool.)
The M1s GAS is actually quite effective in SB. I can usually score about 6-10 seconds average time to hit on the range with it.
The only reason it isn't more effective is that it is stuck on 10x magnification. If I could switch between 3x and 10x on it, then I'd be about 70% as effective with it as the GPS.

Oh really? What's different about the GAS sight reticle on the real M1 and the one in SB? Maybe there was a change on the M1a2?

I did up a practice GAS scenario a little over a year ago.
