Can we get a sticky from the DEVS as to what joysticks will be supported? The more i think about it the more expensive PE gets lol.New system, new vid card, new Stick, new software..........

Basically any four-button joystick, although programmable sticks can be a good choice as well if you want to tie more functions to your stick. Steel Beasts will use the standard Windows APIs for keyboard, mouse, and joystick inputs and allows you to set your setup of the hotkeys. If the driver of a programmable joystick can replicate keyboard presses, you're home safe.

As a rule of thumb, everything that worked in Steel Beasts 1 will work in SB Pro PE as well, only better in some places.

Concerning programable sticks: will the "basic" keyb commands be the same in Pro PE or do we (all the ones who use one) have to make major changes?

will the mouse control of the gunnery be the same in Pro PE as it is in SB1? i.e. not directly slaved to aiming reticle of the gun sight?

Yes i can still use the mouse to miss all the targets I missed in SB1.Why anyone would use a mouse is beyond me. sry BW

Why anyone would use a mouse is beyond me.

Why anyone would write a program with such a bad use of the mouse is beyond me. Why is the joystick directly slaved to the aiming reticle, but the mouse isn't???? Such a collossal waste of computing power is beyond all understanding.

So basically, Pro PE is exactly the same game as SB1, just better graphics and a playable Bradley?

This seriously calls into question whether Pro PE is going to be worth the money.

Hmm. I dont have a problem with it. You need to be able to unslave it from the gun to get at the menu options along the top anyway.

CommC , your comment is uterly stupid :casstet: and is a blatant lie .
The mouse IS slaved to the FCS .

I keep my Joystick for FlightSims . In SB ~any version of SB~ I found the mouse much better , much faster , much more accurate ... And I kick ass

My comment is not stupid and I don't lie. The mouse is not directly slaved to the aiming reticle in SB1. It only indirectly controls the positioning of the aiming reticle by some sort of convoluted formula.

CommC,

I know what you are talking about. I actually once looked into finding (or even creating) software that swapped the Joysticks X Y input with the Mouse's. That way I could use the mouse just like the joystick.

As it is though, I'm quite happy with my stick.

BW when he says the mouse isn't slaved to the reticle, he means that it "chases" where you move the mouse, instead of moving with the mouse like in a FPS.

Saitek X45 anyone? New key commands for my HOTAS would be interesting in SB.

most of it will still be valid, and thanks to the keyboard layout customization tool which is included now you could always change things to what suits you best. :)

Yes, but we changed the way of looking around. This is now under direct mouse control, so to speak - more in line with user interfaces of other 3D games.

...and a ton of other improvements.

But buying it is not compulsory, we're making an offer here. Maybe you should wait until after some people here gave their own and independent feedback.

Dude... chill ..... just yankin' yer chain.... I'm sure Pro PE will be worth the money.

However, BW, you're not doing eSim any favors by blindly endorsing anything they do. You may be the only person in the world that can use the mouse for gunnery .... for the rest of us ... it sucks.... .... (whispers) uh.. the emperor has no clothes...

We want thousands of people playing SB, not 10.

eSim needs to hear clearly from us users what works and what doesn't so the game can be improved. Many tankers who have gunned a "real" M1 have commented that gunnery in SB is harder than in the real thing. Is this what we want?

It is what is needed to become a good gunner on the real thing . It is like running with weights attached to your ankles . When you take them off , you fly

Actually there are several others. I know Stumpy uses the mouse quite effectively. I don't know how he does it, but he does. Sherman is another effective gunner who I believe uses the mouse.

I use both mouse and joy, with the same result.
And as a tanker, I would prefer to have real handle replica, but not the 3 buttons M1 like, but a confortable 10 buttons Leclerc one...
