I've been playing Call of Duty 2 lately. What a game! It's SO much more than the original version. I've shouted, jumped up and down, laughed, and, yes, even cried! (When Ronald Regan came on giving his Pointe Du Hoc D-Day memorial speech.) I've played through the campaigns, and now I'm going back to rework my strategies at higher difficulty levels. I am amazed at the constant variations I encounter in the way the skirmishes play out. If you haven't yet tried it, you owe it to yourself to give it whirl.

Hmm buy a new game or go on sniffing whiskey while banging my head and wait for SB pro. What would harry potter do?

I've been playing the COD2 pre-release demo for the past few weeks and from what I have seen in just that, I can only imagine how great the rest of the game must be. The demo is quite amazing to see and play. My only big complaint so far is the propensity for AI friendly troops to run pointlessly from one position to the next through your line of fire and often getting killed when you don't see them in time.

So CoD 2 hasn't been released in the US yet?

I've got this babe through, and it did cost might a few nights... worth the experience!

Favorites are Hill 400, Pointe-du-Hoc & the ivillage in Normandy, Retaking Toujane...

Downloading the demo now.

It looks like the full version has been available in stores since September.

Is it MP capable?

i have played the demo to, frankly it's start to repeat it self -
you shot, you cover, you throw a graned, you fire some more...
oh and don't forget to verify your kill, because this days the Nazi soldier don't die from a full magazine into the head.
at least the scenery is beautiful

It sure is, but notoriously known to be cheater's heaven - no Punkbuster...

at least the scenery is beautiful

Sure, but that's why I play that game - for the fun. I mean, concerning realism, I'd be accused of genocide at the rate I wasted the German army...

I like the regenerating health...it may not be realitic, but neither is a health bar.

Since the demo only contains the El Daba mission, it does get repetitive if you play it a lot, but then you can always try to complete the mission differently each time.

I'm playing on the hardest "Veteran" level and have done it without using smoke for cover, using only the Enfield rifle and not the Thompson submachine gun, and I've also used the KAR 98 and the MP40. Try completing the mission without using HE grenades!

Another challenge to try is to make it through the demo without getting killed at all. It's also nearly impossible to get through without getting at least wounded.

The Germans do die when shot in the head. I do head shots all the time with the rifle. Sometimes you knock their helmet off and sometimes you can get a kill with one shot.

I only wish there was a way to skip the long intro to the demo mission where you are riding into the city from the desert in the truck and get to the point where you are just at the city gate.

One thing I like in COD 2 is the way the troops move and run. They have a more natural human-like movement. I thought the way the troops moved about in SB was fairly primitive by comparison.

Also, I never saw another TC unbuttoned and standing in his hatch in SB not even during road movement. Maybe they'll fix that in SB PPE.

 Well, sure ya did, when you where in the TC positon with the hatch unbuttoned.. but ya needed a vanity mirror to see yourself..

Nope: as far as what I've seen in screenies from Pro, same deal with virtual looks of M1 or any other tanks.. open hatch, closed hatch, no visible TC, cept for the F7 Co's slot.. again, ya need a mirror.. lol

Few times it happens, but I agree with LS. Remember this is not your typical game, this is a military simulation. As for the way troops move, that may be improved in future updates if I'm correct. But as long as they do what they are supposed to do, it doesn't bother me one bit.
