SB Pro PE installed on:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
2 GB (2x 1 GB) DDR400 Mem
Ati X1900XTX with ver 6.2 drivers
Soundblaster Live! 24 bit
Windows XP SP2
Im no computer guru so any help appreciated. Got 485w powersupply. Plenty of fan's for cooling. Computer case feels really cool, no hot air at all. Could it be a videocard drivers problem? Soundcard problem? Right now I use lastest drivers. Have always the Windows Firewall (Codemeter and SB have permission) and Norton Anti Virus working in the background.
Now I have been busy today with SB Pro for at least 8 hours and got two crashes. Not much but annoying. Again, any help appreciated. Thanks!

I believe it is a driver problem .
Anyway , try that :
Hit start , then "run" and type in DXdiag . Check if everything is fine with your DirectX version .
Cheers . :3starSK:

I checked dxdiag. Did all dx tests. No problems found.
I want to add an odd thing in SB Pro. I have a flashing mouse cursor in 3D interior and with outside view when you want to click other unit on the bottom bar. I have to click once or pause the game to get rid of it.
Anyways, thanks for the help. Seems like driver / videocardproblem indeed.
Cheers.

Thanks! I have a Cougar HOTAS plugged in so that indeed could be a problem. I'll report back.
Cheers!
Edit: I downloaded the TM Default for games.tmj file into the TM HOTAS Cougar and the flashing mouse cursor is gone. It probably will solve the CTD's I had because SB Pro thought I had two mouses and dropped me back to desktop.
Again, thanks for your help. :D
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: Back again unfortunately. :( I keep getting CTD's with SB Pro. :( Still must be mouse-joystick thingy I believe. Not sure. I'll keep trying of course. Been waiting for this software for years. Any help appreciated.
Two more system errors I got:
Foutcode; 1000008e, parameter1: c0000005, parameter2: bfa3dc4c, parameter3: a4333924, parameter4: 00000000.

Hi all,
Having huge problems with SB Pro PE. Its very unstable on my computer. I disconnected my joystick, uninstalled all joystick drivers and other joystickprograms (foxy). Rebooted PC. Details of my system see above please.
So I want to try SB Pro again with no joystick. Just the mouse and keyboard. I got CTD in a few minutes running a small mission of just 8 units. Im lost right now. SB Pro is a no go for me. :( I have about 20 other DX8, DX9 games installed on my system and they run just fine. Any help appreciated, again.

It might be worth trying disabling the hardware acceleration for 3D sound, if it's enabled in your sound card. Can you temporarily disable any antivirus programs or other programs that might possibly be causing a conflict? If that doesn't help, can you provide a little more information about when the crashes occur?

I disabled completely the hardware acceleration of my soundcard. Still got an application error:

Will try other things tomorrow, like disabling Norton Anti Virus. Will keep this updated.
Errors occur random. Most of the time in World View. Once in Map view.
Cheers.
OK, disabled Norton Anti Virus too. Disabled hardware acceleration of soundcard. No joystick. Played one small mission without problem. Then did the first driver's tutorial of the Leo2A5 and got a CTD after a few minutes driving and clicking around:

Older drivers is no option for me. Tried that but they do not work with my brandnew videocard. So Im stuck with Ati's 6.1 or 6.2 drivers. But thanks.
Problem of the CTD's stay.
I'm also not sure if it is the videocard. Works fine with other Dx8 and Dx9 games.
Anyways.... I'm still lost here... any other help appreciated.
Cheers!
Edit:
The Codemeter event viewer gives this:
"CodeMeter: fatal error WB1131 - language module contains invalid version information.
Found boxes: 1
Found new entries: 2
All found new Firm intems : 2
All threads are started!"
And I see no (flashing) lights in the stick. Only when plugged in and when the stick is installed all lights go out. Not sure if this means anything.

Removed my Soundblaster Live 24 bit soundcard and the drivers from my system. Enabled and installed the onboard AC 97 Realtek sound. Unfortunately I still get CTD's with SB Pro. :( Hopefully the dev team come with some ideas or SB Pro is a no go for me. :(

Uninstalled all Ati drivers (v. 6.2) and removed my X1900XTX videocard. Plugged in an AX850XT card and used older drivers (v 5.7). For 30min all went well till I got back to Map View and clicked a few units. That dropped me back to desktop with a reboot.
Right now Im getting pretty nervous if SB Pro will run on my system at all. But not giving up.
Let me know what I can try next please. Buying complete new system is out of the question though.

Drastic but highly efficient : Save your personal files , then format your drive and re-install Windows .

Not sure if that works. Have this new system for just 6 months and never had a crash to desktop before till SB Pro and CodeMeter got installed. :?
This is what I will do. Will try one more time a reinstall of both CodeMeter and SB Pro PE. If that does not work then I'll try a complete new Windows install after a format of the C drive.
Anyways.. if a complete new install of Windows does work then I will send you flowers BW.

Update:
Hi, re-installing SB Pro PE and CodeMeter did not do the job. Still got random CTD's. So I'm going to re-install Windows XP after a complete format. Have to make some backup first so will let you know later if it works with fresh install.
After reading some more posts I would like to try some older drivers for my ati videocard (X1900XTX). Older drivers fail to install because I need different ati information file (*.inf). Right now I can only use version 6.1 or 6.2 with this videocard. Any guru here who knows how I can get or make an updated *.inf file(s) so I can install older drivers? Before trying all this I will use latest drivers first.
Meanwhile I am doing my tutorials and re-discovering SB Pro's editor on my second PC. All works well on this one. :) Its a little slower and cannot use higher resolution then 1024x768 but looks and feels still fine. :) It certainly looks better then those pixels of SB1. :)
Will update later this week if all will go well on my main PC.
Cheers!

Last update:
After a complete new install of Windows XP on my main computer I have had no random crashes anymore with SB Pro PE for the last 2 days. Played at least a few hours missions. Did some tutorials with the Leo's. Made custom maps. Edited missions. No more crashes. Things are stable now and you are looking at one happy tankgunner! :D Thanks for those who helped me. :)
Cheers! 8)
