DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dell sucks...........

Just for fun Google search "Dell Sucks".

As far as any XP problems with SB, On my GF P4 1.6 256DDR ....Blah blah blah....
Hasn't had any trouble whatsoever with SB on XP.

I do remember in the old fourms this being brought up and I'd bet they were Dells as well....
Well maybe they were.

IMHO if you haven't gone past your 30 day money back period, Return it and build your own, You'll get twice the Puter for 1/2 the cost.

As a finial opinion I would like to encourage everyone to stop buying Dells so they'll go outta business and we can be ride of those Stupid commercials.

Just think of how much $ you paid that goes to advertising instead of into hardware.

LOL, that was Windows XP joystick driver issue...

Like so often, it's a driver issue.

There may be other issues related to XP Home if you insist on a high security setup where there is only one user account with administrator privileges since this will deny write access to al subdirectories of the program file folder. While XP Pro and all Windows 2000 versions offer detailed user access lists, XP Home does not (presumably to justify the higher price for XP Pro).
Since the original SB was designed for Windows 95, some user specific data - most noticeably the storage of personal statistics like the gunnery range value, or the download of new scenarios from the host of a multiplayer session - are stored in subdirectories of the Steel Beasts program folder, XP Home may deny the necessary write access and therefore prevent proper performance of SB1.

SB2 will address this.

All is well, had to buy a new stick. Got the Sidewinder Precision 2 USB. Works like a charm with SB and XP.

Cheers :D

Let's hear what you'll ahve to say with the next version of XP... after all Microsoft deliberately stopped to support the first generation Sidewinders with proper drivers, and suggested that all owners should buy a new stick instead of complaining about the lack of support by MS' driver developers.

Yeah, right...

had the same problem, did the same fix...new joystick.
I had a sidewinder which was great for SB in win 98...bad for playing in XP though...bought a Logitech Wingman extreme and it cleared up all the probs...darn thing has a few more features then i think i need but who cares. Its probably better for playing Il-2 if that game weren't so damn impossible...
