I have a strange issue with my keypad. Currently, I'm using the 0 (INS key) and the . (DEL key) on the keypad for ammo selection.

If my numkeypad is ON, then the 0 key works, but the . does not. If the numkeypad is OFF, then the . key works, but the 0 does not. Doesn't work means: keypad doesn't register for an ammo change. Works fine outside of the game.

Use the insert and delete keys for changing ammo . . . not the numpad keys.

Maybe the NumLock was activated when you customized one of the ammo selection keys, but not the other?
If in doubt, define those keys again in the Controls menu. Maybe that'll help to get a consistent behavior.

TopKick: I use the numkeypad because it's a much more convenient layout. It puts all of the gunnery keys in one place, which is convenient for a mousegunner like me.

Ssnake: I tried resetting up the keys being very careful about numkeypad setup, but it didn't fix the issue. Incidentally, I believe this is the default keypad setup that the game comes with. If you set a system to default, I think it may exhibit this.

In XP's world, the INS and DEL keys may have additional “shift” and/or “unshift” scan codes preceding the "push" code and following the "release" code, depending upon the current state of Num Lock and the state of SHIFT key/s (when multiple keys are held down at the same time). Experiment by remapping Home, End, Pgup, Pgdn, arrow keys and the keypad equivilants. If you note odd behavior with some of these keys then it sounds like the game keymapper is not entirely up to XP's keyscan code specs (XP=Xtra Problems).

You might want to try using a 3rd party key remapper and see if that will work for you.
