If you have played command and conqer or some other game where yoiu see your units from above, there is a quite good control cystem like you can select units and create a special unit of them. Lets say you want a combe unit of APC and M1A1, you use CTRL and left click on the units you want, then you CTRL + 1, so when you press 1 next time, you have control superunits, instead of have to put up rutes for 20 different units, what do you think?

Nothing, because:
A tank is NOT a landship. You don't cruise along a stright course. Instead, a company will work its way through the terrain while paying attention to narrow points, choke points, etc. You can't just give a company a global movement direction when the entire game design is tailored to the ability (and need) to set detailed movement paths at platoon level.

Therefore I recommend littering the map with countless checkpoints and battle position markers in the planning phase so you can send units spontaneously to previously identified promising positions. Proper planning cannot be substituted by excessive improvisation. Also keep in mind that in real life it takes time to send out orders as well. It is realistic to have an interface that consumes some time before the unit can actually follow your new orders.

If there's one thing that sucks in the Command & Conquer series it's controlling your units. Try putting you tanks on a line, or just to point in the same general direction for that matter... :casstet:
It's a nice game, and I have played it for many, many hours, but it's not the best example for unit control.

I've played the demo for Blitzkrieg, that was a lot better.

Just my two cents,
