View Full Version : Need help gunning in TC pos (Leo1A5)...?

For the life of me I haven't been successful in hitting a stationary or moving target in the TC pos on "Override" in the Leo1A5.
The tutorial states you can "Laze" and add "Dynamic Lead" exactly as the gunner would do but....
I can't seem to be able to add "Lead" or "Laze" myself from this position. I can do it fine though from the gunner's position.
I think the problem lays in the different controls and the fact that you possibly have to hold down the "Override" and/or "Dyn. Lead" buttons together?
So......
How do you do this exactly?
Do I depress and hold the "Palm Switch Key" on my joystick or depress and hold the "Dyn. Lead" (P) button on my keyboard when tracking a moving target, or both?
and........
Which combination do I depress to "Laze" the target?
I the gunner's position I just normally "Laze" followed by depressing the "Palm Switch key" to add Dynamic Lead and have no problems hitting a moving target but the extra "Override" step of the TC (when manually firing) is really throwing the whole system off for me.
I wind up unable to "Laze" to get proper elevation of the gun and am unable to add "Dynamic Lead" for some reason?
Also I need some explanation of the GPSE and Pano options/ buttons?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks
General comments on Leo2A4:
-In "Commander leads maingun" (KH, Kommandant führt Hauptwaffe, in German) mode, looking through the peri, you can´t laze. Reason: Parallax problem due to the yet unknow distance. Manual input of distance required. And you have to add lead manually, i.e. by estimating.
- In "Commander leads Thermal Imager" (KW, Kommandant führt Wärmebildgerät) and switching to the direct vision adapter (thus looking through the gunners primary sight, eliminating the parallactic problem) you can laze and shoot. Again, only manual adding lead.
- KW mode is only accessible from KH mode, not directly.
- Leo 2A5: Don´t know.
Hope this helps a little bit.

I believe it is the same with the 2A5 , the TC cannot add lead but can use the LRF .
Cheers . :3starSK:

In the real 1A5, you have an override button in addition to the palm switch. The override button is located to the right of the TC, and can be turned either on or off. (This is NOT the same as the palm switch which overrides control of the turret; the override button overrides the GPS, but ONLY when the TC's palm switch is pressed)
You need to make sure the override button is turned on, and then press the palm switch. If you press the palm switch on your stick with the override button OFF, the system will "think" that you're using your TRP-peri to fire, using the gridsystem to range the target. Thus, you won't be able to lase. You can still fire, though, you just can't aim with the GPSE.
As soon as you hit the override button, you'll be able to lase, add lead, and override the gunners thermal imager. The two lights on your bottom right indicates whether this button is pressed or not.

O.K.
Isn't the "Palm Switch key" the same as the "Override" button in this sim???
If not, how do I turn "On" the "Override" button?
Is the "Override" button, sticky?
The red button is illuminated (bottom right) and when I press and continue to hold the "Palm Switch key" (joystick button 3), "KH HZF" also illuminates. I can then manually move the gun and aim but when I hit the "Laze" button (joystick button 2) or "Dynamic Lead" button (P), the range does not enter nor does the "Dynamic Lead" and if I let go of the "Palm Switch key" (joystick button 3), I can no longer manually move the gun/sight.
I'm still very confused here, sorry??? :?

Sorry, I haven't played around enough with Pro PE to know exactly how this works yet, I just know how it works in the real Leo1....
On the leo1, you can override the gunner by pressing the palm switch. This will give you command of the turret. However, if the override button is not pressed, you will not be able to lase. I'm GUESSING this is the *-button on your numpad in the game. Try hitting *, and give it another go...

Actually I'm having a problem in the TC position in the M1 as well...???
When I "Override" I can't also "Laze"???
How do you "Override" and "Laze" at the same time as TC.....???
I'm holding down the (P) or "Plam Switch" (joystick button 3) to engage "Override" but hitting "Laze" (ctrl, or joystick button 2 does nothing).
There's got to be something obvious I'm missing here?

palm switch and override is the same.
however, for the mouse, there's a "view activation" switch.

Found the issue wasn't the Leo at all but my X45 joystick Profile.....
For whatever reason I couldn't "Laze" when "Overriding" unless I hit "SHIFT-P" for the leo or M1A1.
I got it sorted now with a new Profile and am going to try it again.
Thanks all

IRL you have to use both hands doing this.
So I suggest that you do the same in SB.
Use right hand for joystick, trigger and override.
Use left hand for hotkey - laser and dynamic lead.
