Here is what I do. When a target appears, first I aim for center of the target, hold down the "P" key (Palm switch) or equivilant. if the target is moving. Lase the target (Control Key). check the return, make sure you have a solid return, the hit the "Space" key.BOOOM.

Advice on reserv sigt on Leopard 2A5

Are you asking about gunnery using the Gunnerīs Auxiliary Sight? (GAS).
First, locate the target and center it on the stadiametric reticle: a russian made tank at 2000 metres would "fill" the space between the little lines in the centre and the big external lines of it. If the tank is closer, it will fill more space, and vice versa. Then you need to elevate the gun, pressing "Shift and the Up and Down keys" to adjust the little arrow to the distances table showed on the left of the GAS. Note there are two reticles, for Sabot and Heat. Then add lead manually if the target is moving and just pray. Itīs not easy.
Note that a BMP is not as tall as a russian tank, so if a BMP (or a BRDM etc) fills the space between the reticleīs lines, itīs closer than 2000 metres (about 1600 or so). On the other hand, if you deal with western tanks, they will fill the space at more than 2000 metres, as they are bigger.
Just train, train, train...
