(Here's a question that got buried in another thread:)

Here's a Bradley question: what are the conditions under which Bradleys will move forward with their dismounted troops accompanying them? I've seen it happen, but under AI control. I believe the Brads had a "Slow" speed setting, and I think the posture was "Engage." When I jumped in and changed the speed to "Fast," the troops mounted back up.

So, it appears that Brads going Slow on an Engage task will move with dismounted troops alongside. This could be pretty useful for moving in close terrain!

What are the parameters under which this works, both for route-making and for giving orders on the fly?

All advice appreciated!

If I remember right, make a route and give them a "scout" speed and the infantry will dismount and go with the APC.

Alan is correct. select a route for it and select scout, this will make the dismounts travel in front of the bradley (good for finding mines too)

Remember that speed and ROE are different. Infantry will stay dismounted and move at slow speed in both "Scout" and "Engage" behaviors.

"Scout" behavior will react differently - they will not engage at full range, and stop and seek a hidden position if they see an enemy unit. "Engage" will allow you to keep the dismounts out and moving, but be more combat effective. (Assuming the computer is doing the shooting.)

If you hit the "F" key ~fire at will~ after setting the "Scout" order , they will ... fire at will !

Good point BW...the ROE is even separate from the "default" behavior patterns!

If I'm remembering right, the default Scout behavior is (somebody with the manual handy, check me)
Hold fire.
Upon seeing enemy, stop and hold position.
If fired upon, retreat to last checkpoint.

Hitting F makes them fire at will, but the movement behaviors should still be there - so you can use Fire-at-will Scout mode to "bump" an enemy and try to suck them towards you.
