Just thought I'd share my new toy with you all. It's called the DX1 input system, by Ergodex and is a fully programable tablet done using a clever macro system. You can place the keys (25) anywhere on the tablet, then assign them functions. The overlay is actually slipped in under the plastic screen, very clever ! I ordered through Custom uk who are apperently the sole UK distributer. ( http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/ ). They give great customer service btw.

I got it after seeing it posted on the LockOn forums, a guy called rugbutt takes the honours for inspiring me, he had posted some pics of it set up as a flight sim controll ( http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=13472 ).

It looked suberb and I quickly realised it would be a great enhancement for SB, so two days later and lots of some seriously frustrating moments using Illustrator ( first time I'd really tried to use it for a complete project )... I'm very proud to unviel my new control adition.

I've tried to design it to be useful for me as well as trying to keep the spirit of the Leo's control panel. Hope you like. :D

Now that looks like something useful.

Too bad you can only have one of these connected to a single PC. Otherwise you could build a whole functional interior with these things...

Nice! The map you created and printed yourself, yes?

Yeah I know what you mean, the possibilities are endless, I do recall them saying in the Lockon thread that the manafacturer was possibily looking into having the differant tablets connectible via usb. If that happens then you could seriously look at making a virtual cockpit.

On a slight side note, I'm currently trying to assign the buttons, and I can't for the life of me find where the switch between TIM and GPS is ( the Video switch ) and the TIM on/off. I can click on them in the TC's view but cant find them on the keyboard layout ???

Thanks, yes I did it on Adobe Illustrator and then just printed it out, it was printed on normal inkjet paper, the finish might look better on a better quality paper.

Wher does it say you can only use one of these? It's USB/wireless so it should only be limited by the number of ports you have.

Yes your right, sorry, I meant as in connecting from 1 to the other using the same usb port.

If you have more ports than I would imagine its capable of running several.
Though as each 1 costs just under £125 I couldnt really justify going with any more. As is my other half is just a phone call away from having me certified !

That is just sick!... I love it!
So, what is the adhesive surface? Is it a rubbery type material? How strong is the adhesive surface? I can see myself frantically pushing buttons and knocking one button out of position.

Welcome to the ward !!! :D

OK, well as far as I can see the bottom of the buttons have clear plastic which seems like the stuff that magazines use to fix discs and such onto the front covers. Feels very tacky ( sticky not bad )

Once you place your key onto the plastic cover its really isnt going anywhere, feels very secure. To remove them you simply twist the key and they come away. Allowing you to place them in any way you want.

LOL, I get the feeling they dont order too many in as they are a bit "out there".

When I first went to order they had also sold out, I e-mailed and asked about them getting some more, they kept in touch and as soon as they had some more in they let us know, I had it within 2 days of that e-mail.

*** Please note I, nor any of my family are employed by KustomPC...though if they would like to offer future discounts I would be most appreciative  ***

WOW! Now that is a cool gadget! Very practical and very cool looking too.

I think the control handles are great for gunnery, but not TCing, but this could make for a VERY cool setup for the TC spot with a good joystick.

Thanks for the link Ratcatcher!

Your welcome !

If anyone does get one I'd be happy to post the background I did, If any one wants differant controls I could edit it a bit. In fact I'm just re doing the current one as I wanted to get the smoke discharge looking a bit more like the real ones. And sorting out that typo...ooops !

Trackir anyone??

Wow, that is slick. Thanks for the heads up!

Would be great for Falcon AF too.

"Trackir anyone??"

Check, one of the best investments I've made yet for sims. It's amazing how much immersion it brings. I'd love to see support 6DOF added to SB, but I have no idea how hard that would be to implement.

So all you need now is the rest of the turret to build around you!

Suggest you shorten the barrel if you are indoors though.

Yeah, I can open Adobe files no problem.

You should be getting a commission on these things - I know once my Falcon buddies get a load of this thing they are all going to want one.

Sure is a heck of a lot easier than configuring an xkeys setup. Now if they would just make them with different size and shape buttons or better yet illuminated buttons... drool...

Thanks again!

I know, it would be great if they did some differant types of button, like a 3 posistion one so you could toggle, and maybe some differant shapes.
