The game rules!!!

I actually like the whole "professional" brand of the game and actual professionals aside, I think it showed a superb insight on the part of the developers into the wants and needs of its customers (e.g. the minimalist menus, the fact that there are no cheesy illustrations, the tone of the manual and tutorial missions).

And playing the game itself is amazingly similar to the original (in a good way)! My biggest fear was that the new version would've lost that special something that the original had (don't ask me to describe or define what that is). But it did not. It managed to improve immensely over the old seemingly without compromise.

Awesome! I'm back in!

I second that Double_L.

I only got one and a half evening in companion with this sim and I am amazed how easily I get a blast of excitment. The menues are fast, intuitive and straight forward. The game runs smoothly and within half an hour of enjoyment you can create a very fun scenario that gives you fun for hours! The only way that is possible is if the AI behind the scene is superb.

Using the editor there seems to be very little of unit micro managment nessesary to create a well function scenario. Place enemy units behind woods and give them orders to guard with fire at will. If you get too close they will find cover in the woods and their AFV will deploy their infantry.
Place enemy MBTs way behind hills with waypoints on top of it and they will move uphill trying to find their cover behind the chest making them almost impossible to spot or hit. If they spot you on the move they will deploy arty to suppress you while their MBT are trying to sneak up on you.

This sim is a blast - to bad I need to work for money 8)

agreed. plus, if you're talking about placement and orientation in a three dimensional environment, it seems like the AI can be even smarter than a human. no? i guess it depends on the human.
