View Full Version : Can you call FASCAM in any faster?

I did the M1, Leo 1, and A5 artillery tutorials. According to the briefing the best way to stop the column of AFVs coming down the road is to call in FASCAM. The thing is it takes 20 mins for it to splash. Anything else takes 2:30 mins. So I just end up saturating entire length of the road with ICMs...over and over again.

I've tried doing time on target, but it greys out as soon as I select FASCAM.

I would really like to try some FASCAMs though. Is that something that needs to be implemented into the tutorial design? That way FASCAM falls as soon as the tutorial starts?

I have not gotten that far with Pro, but chk the briefing out as to the priority of your artty, for example: ICM, HE, High, Fascam, Low .. would mean exactly what you got.. 20 mins, if you called in any ICM or HE first.

And, if like in SB1, you make the artty call from either your Co or XO tank, it will come faster than from any other tank, unit-non co or xo unit, or from grunts...

Up the road, when you get and use a FIST-TV unit, it will call arrty for ya and the times will be faster than most others.

So, chk artty PRIORITY: If it is under Top Priority or High, it will come fast, if its median or less, make it your first call out for fastest time, then use the higher priority arrty after, as those calls will still get good times.

When making a scenario in the editor, you can place up to 5 Fascam Priority missions. These come Much faster, I think about 30 seconds or thereabouts...

Well, it looks like I missed a change that delayed FASCAM seriously. In previous versions (like, a year ago...) it came as fast as any other artillery support and it was possible to seal off the road.

Could be that the tutorial is wrecked now. If I find the time, I'll see if I can "repair" it by placing a few priority targets. But if someone else volunteers to do it, all the better. Copy the scenario from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\scenarios\z_Reseved\tut\Leo 1A5 to ..\My Files\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\My Scenarios, modify it to your liking, and upload the result here at SteelBeasts.com or send it to me. The best one should then become the new default tutorial.

Oh! So that is why I had such trouble with this one. I had the 20+ minute fascam splash wait using the 2A4 tutorial also.

Yeah,

I noticed the turorial always "times out" before the first FASCAM splash is dropped, even when its set first...DoH!
