If you are in the commander's position, what is the most expedient method for guiding your gunner to a target?
Great game, by the way...

I think it depends more than a bit on what tank you are commanding..

Leo 2...Hold your aim on the target...press "overide" (turret swings to target)...shout "tank(or PC or truck or what ever) fire"...kick the gunner if he misses
no guarantie for it...but that should it

Also for those lacking turret designation you can name TRP's (Terrain or Topographical Reference Points) in your scan area.
What I mean is when you position the vehicle you will have a left and a right limit to the view you are scanning. Then designate certain terrain features as TRP1, TRP2, and so on within that area so that you can call out targets more easily. Of course this only works if you have a human gnr and tc.

Grenny,
When you say "Hold your aim on the target," are you still in the TC's position? Or have you jumped to the gunner's position? If not (if you're still in the TC's position), is your aim determined by the small yellow cursor thingy?
"...press "overide" (turret swings to target). "
Don't have the manual with me as I'm at work ( ) ; do you recall the hotkey for that?
Thanks!

Yes, you are still in the TC position. The gunner should have no problems seeing the target once the turret is slewed to the direction you desiganted.
